Saw second viewing tonight. For me, it was better than the first viewing. Funny how many people are wrong, including me, on the various aspects of the movie.

I highly recommend seeing it again.

The Russos really framed this movie as if Thanos was the hero in his own twisted way.

Indeed.

As I meationed in the other thread, note how the after credits, where it typically says “(movie focus) will return.” It didn’t say the Avengers, Stark, or capt Marvel like in every other movie

It said Thanos will return.

After watching for the 3rd time, lets be honest. Was their any doubt Thanos wasnt going to collect the final stone after he warped into Wakanda?

Cap... thats him.

Proceeds to wreck all that got in his way.
Then the “snapture” and that was it. He rests, with a look of total accomplishment on his face.

I thought it was an incredible moment where Vision and Wanda were doing an incredibly noble and heroic moment of self sacrifice where they were saving the universe and it actually worked, only to have Thanos take that moment and spit and shite it right back at them and kill Vision and Wanda himself and then kill half the universe anyway.

That shook me.

Spidey was a tough death, but i felt bad for vision, had to die twice in like 2 min
One by his woman then brutally by the Great Titan

My 7 year old and I went a few nights ago and we have watched every Marvel movie together over the last 3 years, it's one of our things.
I know most have mentioned the Spiderman dissappearing as the most emotional moment for them but through the eyes of a 7 year old my son was really upset during the near death of Iron Man.

We had been discussing for weeks how even if somebody died Dr Strange could go back in time and save them just to prepare him for the unknown but neither of us were really ready for the Tony death even though I believed a big death would happen.

He let out a really sad oh no, oh no during that moment which will definitely stick with me for years. I love how much we've gotten attached to some of these characters the whole movie was a blast.

For all the talk of “comic book fatigue”, the fact that this was all one massive project being revealed in stages should hopefully exclude these from that. If anything it’s gotten me reinvested and wanting to go back and watch them all again.
Y'know, speaking of "comic book fatigue"...
it hasn't really been discussed here, but this movie is perfect for that too.

I've seen it mentioned that this is Marvel's Empire Strikes Back moment, but it isn't. It's more;
there will be another movie, and many more beyond that. We see that in the trailers. We know they can't let go of the money. We know certain guys are still obligated for more films.

And yet, if you DID have enough of these comic book films, then this movie does an AMAZING job as The End. It summarizes everything, leaves no loose ends. Our heroes fight as valiantly as they can, Thor makes a heroic and thrilling last attack, and... "you should have gone for the head".
Snap.

And it's done. Thanos wins. The world, the universe has been culled, and he's watching the sun rise somewhere in satisfaction. And nobody can get to him or do a damn thing about it.
And you can then choose to move on from Marvel if you like, and not have any lingering questions about the characters.
Hawkeye and Ant Man? The brief line War Machine said takes care of that; they have families, and have chosen to take care of them rather than be vigilantes.
Hulk/Banner? In a way, seems like Banner got his wish- Thanos beat the tar out of Hulk, and he doesn't want to come back. Banner can be complete again, can have a relationship without fearing that he would get excited and kill his partner.
The rest of the survivors- they've just been shown that they are no more pivotal than anyone else; that the world can come along and render everything they've ever done pointless. They're not any more important than the rest of the kids on Peter Parker's bus.

Now, we know it doesn't really end that way. They'll all be back. We want them to. I do.
But this gives you the out, if you want it.

I think I already said I loved it and it is probably my favorite Marvel movie.

My dad called me the other day and he really didn’t like it. It reminded him too much of Black Panther in bleakness and he felt like the comedy was terribly used.

His favorite is Thor Ragnorak

Not sure if I understand him at all lol

They do make for a great experience with your kids. I still have my comic books from when I was young and I opened the box one day and showed my son who is 8 and his jaw was on the ground. Because of these movies, my son actually takes an interest in something I put a lot of effort into growing up. All of my collection are individually wrapped with backboard to keep them mint. He wants to read them all :)

Here is another interesting unanswerable question:

Which is the single most powerful stone?

Front runners are reality and time IMO.

All 5 that we know the power of seem very strong:
Space- able to teleport anywhere in the universe, unlimited energy source
Power- super strength, can shoot laser beams, mass destruction, etc
Mind- mind control, super intelligence, ...and whatever it does to Vision
Reality- bend reality/alter reality to your will
Time- make something rewind/fastforward in time, stick something in a time-loop, ability to see all possible futures

I have no clue what the soul stone does but I guess it lets you control souls

Ha- maybe that was Gamora's plan all along (in the movies):

maybe the Soul Stone enhances... your soul.

Thanos was a dick before this movie. Pretty smug when he took down Hulk and laid waste to the rest of the Asgardians. A gloating a-hole when he grabbed Gamora, and tortured Nebula.
Then, he got the Soul Stone.... and he was gracious to Stark. Altruistic when he comforted Wanda.

Maybe Gamora beat him, by letting him take the Soul Stone. You sacrifice to get it, and in return... you regret all the wrongs you're doing???

Just a random thought. But it'd be an interesting one. And honestly, it would be a safeguard to prevent those who would do what Thanos is doing, from doing it. You get all the Stones, you become all-powerful, and with that you become soulful enough not to misuse the power.

And the more I watch this, the more I get disgusted by every element of Ruffalo in this film.

It's amazing how the Banner character has gone from a Jason Bourne level fugitive able to evade SHIELD and the government in Incredible Hulk and Avengers to the bumbling comic relief that we have in Infinity War.

Imagine for a second the combined onslaught of Stormbreaker Thor, fully powered Captain Marvel and Worldbreaker Hulk against Thanos...

I heard an interesting theory. Here it is, interspersed with my own ideas:

Annihilus comes on the scene to get the IG, but this a-hole wants to ice everything. Just all of it.

He gets the gauntlet, but is unable to use it for some reason.

Thanos has to help the Avengers defeat Annihilus. In doing so, he realizes the value of life or some shite.

Thanos restores the lives he took.

At the end of the film, he decides to restore Gammora using the Soul Stone, and has to sacrifice his own life to do so.

ETAOh, and somehow the Hulk stops being a infuriating pussy arse bitch.

I seriously don't give a shite about the MCU's Hulk now, and he was in my top 3 beforehand.

my biggest issue with the premise was the belief that if they could stop Thanos from getting one of the six stones everything would be OK. uh, he's still the most powerful being we've ever met who handled the hulk without using a stone, adn he controls 83% of existence (including time, power, and reality). he could still do his dirt, it would just take a bit longer

This. The only reason he set out on his quest for the stones was to speed up the process. Like he said when Dr Strange asked "Then what?"

"I finally rest, and watch the sun rise on a grateful universe."

Before the movie started, I didn't think there was any doubt that he would get all 6. The only question was would he get them all in Infinity War or would he still one or two short going into the next movie.

Well to be fair, if Thor has emerged on the scene quicker, Wanda had been able to hold Thanos off a little longer, Thor would have killed him outright.
