Well, Loki did always call him a big dumb oaf.

If you take Ragnorok into account, Banner had just spent a few years as Hulk so it would make sense his mind is still a little scrambled. Then as Hulk he had spent those years beating the shite out of all comers and was adored as the grand champion.
Getting smacked by Thanos so easily shocked the hell out of him. Being sent back to earth where he felt so hated he left the planet broke his ego.
They probably could have thrown in a line where he and Nat reunite that her affection for him wasn't real love but just an attempt to control Hulk's rage. That might have made his impotence more easily acceptable. Hell, maybe they did and it got cut for time. Plus it could have opened the door for him to ride off into the sunset w/a Liv Tyler cameo in part 2.
Great post

How do you guys feel narratively about how easily Thanos beat the Hulk with just the Power Stone?
Not exactly the show of “angrier he gets, the stronger he becomes”
Thanos turned it so quickly against Hulk. Did he have time to get past "surprised" and into "anger"?
THOR: RAGNAROK BEGINS A THREE-MOVIE ARC FOR HULK

Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo informed IGN during a recent interview that Thor: Ragnarok is the beginning of a three-movie story arc for the giant, green Avenger, one that will follow Bruce Banner as he faces profound questions about his alter ego and changes to his powers.

Few points.
Shuri is one of the smartest people on earth, up there with Reed Richards, Tony Stark, and Hank Pym (the big 3 for brains in Marvel). So it is not surprising that given all the resources of the richest country, she is able go master many fields that Banner/Stark hadn't thought of.
Wakanda is super rich because they sell small bits of Vibranium to other countries for insane prices.
Hulk vs Thanos was less about raw strength and more about Thanos knowing right where to strike to immobilize the Hulk.

So whats preventing thor from hunting him down shoving his axe through his dome taking the gauntlet and undoing everything? I mean he had all the stones whenever Thor fricked him up the first time and thor went straight through him

I hope Marvel (the company of numerous fake out deaths) actually keeps those that weren't evaporated dead (Loki, Gamora, etc). I fully expect Dr. Strange to bring back the rest of the cast. I didn't even have an emotional reaction when Tony was stabbed because of being fooled so many times. It takes away the punch when they actually do die.

Are you Thor, God of hammers?" then going on to tell his son that it's not the hammer, it's you. You're stronger than I am ect. Then here we are in the next movie, first sign of trouble comes up and Thor runs across the galaxy to get another weapon.
He had to use all of his strength and all of his inner God to get that weapon made. He stood in the direct channeled path of energy from a star for a minute or two.
I took it as his Spiderman suit moment from Homecoming.
He always had the hammer, wielded it with arrogance, and took it for granted. Once he learned to let the weapon go, he could learn to use one more efficiently. "If you're nothing without the suit, then you're nothing with it" kind of thing.
Also, I refuse to be upset about it because Thor the last two movies has been fricking and incredible and my favorite fight scene so far is when he went straight God of thunder against the Thanos Minions at Wakanda.

I think Gamora comes back.
But I do think The Asgardians are dead along with Heimdall and Loki.

Thanos was far better than my expectation. He wins millions of heart. Hulk was beaten very badly by Thanos. that's why Banner cannot turn into hulk.

They Game of Thrones'd it. Had separate story lines which ended up being woven together.
Uh, don't most movies do this?

you're on to something...
thor and stormbreaker went through thanos like a hot knife through butter. thanos snapped his fingers, glove looked burned out, and thanos disappeared to watch the sunset. so now why can't thor go after him and finish him, aiming at his head this time.

I just watched the movie. That's what I thought also. It wasn't Thanos overpowering the Hulk. He is a skilled warrior, and the Hulk just smashes. I believe the Hulk would have beat him, had he not been knocked out so quickly (didn't have time to get truly pissed off).

Saw it last night. Great, great movie. Someone mentioned earlier how in some movies where different threads intertwine, you usually care about one storyline and just sit through the other until you get back to the one you want and, here, you care about all of them. I completely second that. One of the amazing things to me (personally) was I absolutely hated GotG and in this movie I still enjoyed the scenes with those characters.
I tried avoiding spoilers as much as possible but one of the complaints I had read was the overuse of humor. I didn't think so. The Russo's did a great job of maintaining the comic tempo that has endeared the Marvelverse to all of us. But, when it came time to deliver the gut punches, they came through.
Anybody else glad part 2 isn't for a year? Gonna go back to the beginning over the next few months and start rewatching the entire universe and re-enjoy the buildup.
