I have come up with a major plot hole given what happened earlier in the movie: why didn’t Dr Strange create a portal in the middle of Thanos as he was walking towards him. It would have sliced him into 4 fricking pieces, killed him almost instantly, and not allowed him to use the Infinity Stones since he’d have no limbs left. Wong chops off one of his children’s arms doing this, so why not try it with Thanos?

Because Thanos proved that he could defeat all of those paltry magic tricks. A portal would have just been suicidal.

Ok, you put it parallel to where his heart is. What’s Thanos going to do? He can’t do shite.

Alter reality?
It's not so much a plot hole as it is suspension of disbelief in the comic book universe rules.
Sure, Strange could've created a Portal, but who is to say Thanos was ever really where they thought he was after he got the reality stone? He proved twice he could just make eveyone see something different, like when Gamora thought she stabbed him.
So Dr. Strange opens a portal, it looks as though Thanos is dead, so he drops his guard, and Thanos steps up from being him and crushes him to death. Plot hole closed.

Good point and covers the plot hole. It just seems like the easiest way to kill Thanos and separate him from the Infinity Gauntlet, but if he had used the Reality Stone, he would not have taken that cheap trick kindly.

I saw the whole “use a portal on Thanos” as a meme somewhere. I was more in the where was Thor when Thanos got to Wakanda camp.

Another problem:
Portals have always been shown to take a little bit of time even by experts, as many as 3-4 seconds.
Strange was more or less holding his ground, but only just. Making a portal meant leaving himself exposed to the attack.

Are you serious? Did you watch the movie?

I mean you could also ask why couldn't quill wait one minute for spidey and iron man to take off the gauntlet before he punched him or why didn't drax or nebula kill thanos while he was under mantis' control

Cull had his hand cut off when he reached through a closing portal. Thus far portals only seem to be able to be opened in unoccupied space. He would have needed to make one, hope Thanos reaches into it, then close it before he gets his hand out.
Thor was clearing out alien ships when Thanos appears. He came from the sky with his axe, so it is safe to assume he was not aware when Thanos first appeared.

You are forgetting when Strange cut a taxi in half when evaccing Banner.

I once read a novel where God just left, and Lucifer claimed the throne in Heaven.
There are a couple of different references to that that came to mind.
1) Was Sandman: season of the mists, wherein we see Lucifer abdicating his rule in hell.
2) I think there was a season of Supernatural that dealt with this.
I recommend (1) Sandman (it's several graphic novels).

I watched it last night. Great movie. The best part about this movie is how it is setting up the ultimate sacrifice for the next one. Still mulling it over.
But I think a lot of tears are going to be shed when the next Avengers movie ends.

My daughter had a nervous breakdown when Spider-man started "I don't wanna go".

This was my 18 year old daughter and she tried really hard to be quiet about it until the credits started rolling. Then she just collapsed into a sobbing basket case.

Different crowd at last night’s re-viewing at the Malco in Gonzales.
60% full. All white. Almost no response to anything really. Almost no one stayed for the post-credits scene. Comments as people left: : “sucks for Spider-Man”, “should’ve killed Iron Man instead of Spider-Man”.
Things I noticed on this viewing: Split second of Thanos’ famous scarecrow in the final scene. The CGI of Banner in his final scene is shockingly bad.
