If he weren't in the movie the outcome would have been virtually the same.

The Nazis would have still taken the Ark because they would have obtained the Headpiece..

Taken it to the Island and would have died

The University still would not have received the Ark.

A lot of Nazis would have died initially but then other Nazis would realize the danger and put the lid back on like the Americans did and still keep it.

It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.

It’s about the journey not the destination.

It's a good 'hero's first adventure' where he isn't yet strong enough/skilled enough to defeat the villains on his own but is able to learn from his many mistakes and succeed in future adventures.

But it's true

You (they) are just assuming Marion would have handed the headpiece over in her bar had Indy not been there for the brawl. If she never handed it over, they would have never found the ark.

Would not have ended up in the hands of the US if he was not involved.

Are you under the impression that the Nazis would ask politely for the piece and then kindly thank her before leaving when she said “no”?

If Indy didn’t find it the Nazis might never have discovered it. They were using a staff that was not the right length.

If they had the actual head piece they would have had the right coordinates to dig...Indy just did the work for them. Same outcome.

No Indy- Germans still keep the ark and Marion dies.

Also back to beginning. No Indy - no none finds the ark because the headpiece just stays with Marion who the Germans had no idea had the piece or where she was.
