re: Iconic roles the actor hates

Burt Reynolds in Boogie Nights
Reynolds famously hated the movie/role before, during and after filming. I'm not sure if Mark Wahlberg hated Boogie Nights while he was filming it, but he's renounced it in recent years, or at the very least has said he's regretted taking the role, due to the conflict the pornographic themes have with his Christian religion. A bit ironic considering that was the film that firmly allowed him to put his "Marky Mark" persona behind him and be regarded as a legitimate burgeoning A-list actor which was no mean feat in the 90s. It's mostly forgotten how big of a deal it was at the time, the 80s/90s had tons of novelty and/or one-hit-wonder type musical acts and once you got that designation it was near impossible to shed, but Wahlberg managed to do so.
It's also ironic that Wahlberg is so eager to renounce his involvement with Boogie Nights and some of his other early work, but has been content to remain mostly silent on the multiple race based violent attacks he commit as a young man. Should probably apologize for those first before a movie role.

Han Solo
I think only Mark Hamill liked being in Star Wars. Everyone else? This is kinda trash vibes.

Boogie Nights is the best thing Wahlberg and Reynolds ever did, so they are both categorically wrong.

A great modern day example. She destroyed her career with her mouth.
Which is ironic because that's probably how she got a career in the first place.

Christopher Lee hated playing Dracula in the Hammer films
IIRC, the problem wasn’t the role as much as Hammer fricking him on pay by telling him all the cast and crew would be out of work if he didn’t film the next Dracula flick, getting him to sign on and take a pay cut rather than hurt everyone else.

It’s not ironic at all. People change. That’s not ironic, that’s life.

Is that true? He was highly praised for his performance. It’s a depressing film about a low life people, but it was very good and the acting was top notch across the board.
He and PTA literally had fist fights on set

Han Solo
It seems like I remember hearing that Harrison Ford only agreed to reprise his role as Han Solo in The Force Awakens because they agreed to kill the character off. That's true hate.

I heard he didn’t know it was a comedy till he went into see the movie at the opening ceremony and people were laughing.
The movie was not originally intended to be a comedy. The book on which it was based was not. It was only once Kubrick realized how absurd the entire thing was that he decided to film it the way he did.

The chick in Crazy Rich Asians kind of pulled a similar career foul when she figured she was a movie star after CRA and bitched about having to honor her tv contract.
She hasn't really gotten much traction in movies and has had to go back to series as her primary acting outlet.

He wanted Han to die in Empire Strikes Back. When he got frozen in carbonite, that was supposed to be it for his character.

Looks like a great role to me. I'd take his place.

That YouTube channel I recommended a few months ago is going a bit into all the drama.
Yes, he was told once that if he didn’t sign onto the movie, the movie would be cancelled for I think the 4th or 5th movie. Hammer was even considering getting in a new vampire into the series and Warner Brothers said they would refuse to distribute if Lee wasn’t in it as Dracula.
But his issues with Hammer go back. He didn’t like how Dracula is portrayed. He wanted the roles to be different. He went an entire like 2.5 movies with only saying like 3 words as the title character.

I’m not gonna lie. Boogie Nights is one of the only films I’ve ever walked out of

It’s a terrific movie and the casting was one of the best ever.

Hasn’t even been released, but Rachel Ziegler as Snow White will be up there.
