Holy crap now I know why it’s considered the greatest comedy of all time. The auto pilot manual inflation scene and the air Israel plane had me freaking rolling

A thread on here about it last week inspired me to watch. First time in awhile. Still a classic, I was cracking up the whole time

I have a feeling it gets better on multiple watches and you find subtle new things each time

#SayHerName

That was Barbara Billingsly. She played June Cleaver, the mother on Leave it to Beaver, who was as wholesome of a housewife as possible. That’s what made it so damn funny beyond her just being a White woman speaking Jive.

"it was at that moment that I realized Elaine had doubts about our relationship and that, as much as anything else, led to my drinking problem"

Airplane Drinking Problem

I can't tell you how many times as a teen I would throw a glass of water on my face and say, "obviously I've got a drinking problem".

"How can I forget all the beautiful times we had together Ted, Like when I used to sit on your face in Cooney's van and wriggle."

Kills me every time.

Just yesterday I was helping to move something, used the “Clearance Clarence” line and it turned into an Airplane quote-fest.

It does.
The nun reading Boy's Life magazine and the kid next to her reading Nun's Life.
Every exterior shot of the plane in flight includes propeller noise, not jet noise.
Jars of mayonnaise in the background of the doctor from the Mayo clinic.

The callback to that in Scary Movie 3 had me laughing my arse off.

My first wife, who had never seen Airplane, had no idea why it would be funny. Definitely one of those bits that required you to see the previous instance to get the joke.

I've never seen Airplane!. Well, not all the way through at least. I recorded it a while back, but when I went to watch it I realized it was on a channel that has commercials, meaning that it was likely an edited version of it. So I didn't watch it.

Is there any way to stream it somewhere? I haven't seen it on any platforms that I use (NF, Prime, Tubi, HBO Max, D+).
