Female character is hit in the face with overwhelming and terrifying circumstances and every single aspect of her response is chalked up to her "being a count".
ven in this tiny thread, the Skyler derangement is already off the charts. It goes far beyond her actual character, and you’ll never ever read similar vitriol directed at Walt. I think the Skyler hatred is great in whoever over-identified with Walt when he asked her to “climb down out of his arse” in Season 1.

quote:I have to disagree - Hank was a good person (even if he was unlikable/douchey from time to time.) One of the great aspects in the final season was when they made me question if the show had actually been about Hank all along.
I always thought one of the points of the show was that none of the characters were really likable in the sense of being good people. They were all pretty flawed people. I didn't really hate any of them, but neither did I really like them in the sense of wanting to be friends with any of them had they been real people.

Because he's a great chemist.
I'm not sure why you're invested in Walt being a total loser, with the exception of meth talent, but believe what you like.

Congrats on being so woke

He was overly mean and cruel to his wife after he was shot when all she was doing was trying to be nice and help him recover.
He was also a coward though that may have saved his life also he was afraid of advancement not taking opportunities for promotion then acting jealous when his friend takes it.
The only ones that aren’t horrible people are the 2 kids

Even before Walt ever did anything wrong she treated him like a child. There's a reason he took to crime and became as malicious as he did. She primed him for it. And the thing is she wasn't even really put off by the illegal activity. She took right too it after a while. She was pissed he kept it from her BECAUSE she's a huge control freak. But she eventually learned how Walt felt for years, not being in control of her own life. Also she fricked Ted.
All of that. She really treated him like shite even before he started cooking and lying and was at least one of the causes of his break to the bad.
Put another way, his break was obviously caused by shattered ego and insecurities, which she only contributed to rather than help alleviate.

I didn't say he was perfect. He was clearly massively out of sorts. And I have no doubt that he felt terrible about it and made it up to her.

None of that makes him "horrible". He was a flawed human (still operating within the normal confines of the law and society.)
And Walt Jr. was a horrible character - easily the laziest part of the show.

Nope, no biggie there. But Heavens, how dare she sleep with another man!!!!

Lots of hen-pecked cucks out there.

There’s not being perfect and then there is being a raging dick to the person that is literally wiping your arse because she bought the wrong flavor chips. At no point in the show, that I recall, do we see him show remorse, apologize to her for flying off the handle for minor discretions or act like he felt terrible and made it up to her.

Fair enough but he is a classic bully that’s really a coward.

That’s a different discussion but what we see on the show, all the adults are pretty bad people to varying degrees.

Jesus what a stupid false comparison
It is possible to think Walt is evil and his wife was an annoying bitch

Yep
You can pull for whoever while watching the show because that’s part of the fun. I, along with most, was pulling for Walt. But to discuss the show in detail after it’s all over and to just disregard the lifestyle Walt adopted, which caused extreme danger to his family, while throwing nothing but hate at Skylar for being a bitch and cheating is absurd.
Being a bitch and cheating is a pretty common occurrence in everyday life that people deal with. Waking up one day and finding out your 50 something year old husband is a meth kingpin? No, not very common
And no, I’m not defending Skylar by any means. I’m just comparing her and Walt

Man's going to die a horrible death from cancer, soon, and she does not appreciate the $90,000,000 in cash that he has literally piled up for her and their children. granted it's dirty money, but really is that much money ever clean.

I would argue that he "breaks good" - i.e. he goes form that defining his personality to having some self-awareness of it and even addressing it.

As shitty as she is, her sister is worse

Yes, but mainly for selfish reasons or to protect Walt jr. Not because she wants to stick by his side to show she really loves him. From the start of the show they never really liked each other, and both were to blame. Walt for being a pushover and Skylar for being controlling

Walt Jr. is pretty horrible.
The jury's out on the little girl.

She had every right to be an a-hole to Walt. If he could have swallowed his pride and taken the job at Gray Matter his cancer would have been taken care of and he could have left some money to his kids. Instead, he held a grudge like a little child and became a meth dealer. frick Walt. He's a terrible father who ruined Walt Jr's life over pride.

But I always thought the sister was worse. She was a busy-body who stuck her uneducated nose in everyone's business and then would lecture them. She didn't even have a kid but was always lecturing Sklyar how to raise her son.
This! I never had the intense hate for Skyler that so many had, but I didn't understand why there wasn't more intense hatred for Marie, who I found far more annoying. I wanted to strangle her:
Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!
I'm so glad Betsy Brandt ended up in Life in Pieces, otherwise I might have hated her guts forever.
