"Yes, you dumbass. Notice how the one we raised far away from you and your political machinations is a normal human?"

He runs at first then he’s calm once he’s near the dragon. Exactly the opposite of Darkly

I interpreted that to be more of an indication that the dragons can spot a rider. "The wand chooses the Wizard, Mr. Potter" sort of moment
You interpreted what the writer/director were portraying.

Made it mid way through episode 5. I'm giving up on this turd.

I get saying that its too slow for your taste, and everyone is tired of Daemon fricking around in Harrenhal (I'd rather they just not show him than the endless hallucinations and brooding scenes), but the show is absolutely not a turd. At all.

they could have at least gotten naked

Yea he sounds like a douche constantly correcting people who spell names wrong.
Anytime he does that to you just remind him that he literally has two words spelled wrong in his username.

I can't bag on anyone for misspelling names in this universe. Targaryen names are like the Braxton and Braylans of the ASOIAF universe.

Two favorite subtle scenes were Alicent touching Aemon talking about what he suffered in his youth.
I think Aemond's hard villain turn has been a little too sharp the last two episodes.
He is much more interesting and complicated if you remind the audience how badly he was treated when he was young. Even before the losing-the-eye episode, he was bullied by ALL the other kids who were matched with dragons. They resented that he eventually bonded with the biggest one, and he paid for it with an eye.
Since Rook's Rest, the writers have done their best to paint him as one-dimensional, cold, and cruel. But he plays better when you build some sympathy for him... Aegon bullying him in the whorehouse... Helaena preferring him to Aegon, etc. And why is he written so shitty to Alicent, by the way?
He could be a GREATer, more nuanced villain than what we are getting.

Rhanerya and Alicent and their acting is subpar (could be writing), and their characters are much less intriguing then Aemond , Dameon , or Aegon.
I liked Danaryes, brienne of Tarth, Arya. They were just badass women whereas in this show they literally point out themselves that they’re women and aren’t getting respect.

Makes sense that the Dragon named Sea Smoke bonds with the son of the Sea Snake?

My only issue is that no dragon in recorded history (that we know of) has ever chosen a rider in this manner. Its fine, I think, but I would like them to try to explain it in some way. If history shows every other dragon ever claimed has been by the human approaching the dragon, why was it different this time?
And I think its important to explain because if dragons can pick their riders in this manner, then why hasn't an unclaimed dragon ever chosen a rider like this before and it would also open up the possibility that a dragon could choose a rider from any house. Maybe this proves that dragons only choose blood from old Valyria?

I assumed the series would be three seasons and they would have Aemond and Daemon battle it out on dragonback at the end of season 2.
But it looks like they will stretch it out to four or five seasons and they are just inventing drama and plot points to fill in the gaps so these two warriors must go through a bunch of soap opera nonsense before they eventually collide.

Ser Steffon getting toasted was definitely a surprise.
I thought that was kinda obvious. Who sees that guy on a dragon?

I’m sure this has been discussed, but why couldn’t Dany be hurt by fire when her brother and Aegon were?

Watching House of the Dragon after Game of Thrones is like eating a flank steak versus eating a filet. It's from the same animal, but the quality and engagement is severely lacking. Of all the stories that could have been told in this universe, they picked the most boring, and hired bad actors to boot.
I fell asleep watching episode 5 last night before I even got to 6. The pacing is glacial.

Dany surviving fire was
Luck/a fluke one time thing
Shaw: Are all the Targaryans immune to fire?
Martin: No, no Targaryans are immune to fire. The thing with Dany and the dragons, that was just a one-time magical event, very special and unique. The Targaryans can tolerate a bit more heat than most ordinary people, they like really hot baths and things like that, but that doesn't mean they're totally immune to fire, no. Dragons, on the other hand, are pretty much immune to fire.
