I feel like they will drag that out into next season

Still a lot they can cover before God’s Eye. We’re at 2.10 on the list.

Episode was pretty good. Idk why they left Aegon on a cliff hanger though.

He was incapacitated for a whole year in the books. Makes sense they’d suggest he was close to death in the show.

In the books, it was explicitly stated Rhaenys made no attempt to run - she went after both dragons.

Aemond was all like, "This poser can't even speak High Valyrian. He ain't no blood of the dragon. Dracarys."

That's my synopsis of his intent.

fricking cole calling that guy a traitor. At least he was completely crushed looking at Aegon that made me happy.

Sorry for losing the plot somehow but can anyone cliff note this for me? I was clearly reeled into all the action and missed the significance here. Is gods eye that psychedelic brew ol girl served him in the kitchen? Im a little lost on the significance of that

These are all future spoilers, fair warning.

Gods Eye is the lake that Harrenhal sits on.

The Battle of Gods Eye is the battle between Aemond and Daemon.

This is from the Wiki itself:

quote:

Vhagar's corpse was found years later, with Prince Aemond's armored corpse still chained to her saddle with Dark Sister through his eye. Vhagar's skull was brought to King's Landing and displayed on the walls of the throne room. Dark Sister was restored to House Targaryen.[2]

Caraxes lived long enough to crawl from the Gods Eye back to the shore, where he died near Harrenhal. Daemon's body was never found, however. Some tales claim Daemon survived and later went to find his lover Nettles, but most historians dismiss this, believing instead that Daemon's body was carried away by currents or consumed by fish.[2]

Great episode. Rhaenys went out like a badass. I’m guessing we probably end the season with the dragon seeds and maybe Gullet and the aftermath of that? Or do they even push Gullet to next season?

God’s Eye will def be season 3. I wonder how deep they’ll go into the final stages and aftermath. Season 4 would have to be the last.

What an episode. Hate seeing these dragons die though. It’s almost like a dog death in a movie and I don’t know why

I think it’s because they’re showing us in each episode that the bond between a dragon and its rider is intensely strong.

The scene when Vhagar has Meleys’ neck in her jaws and she’s biting down, Meleys’ last living moment was to intentionally look back at Rhaenys. For me, that was a gut wrenching moment.

That was easily the best episode of the entire show. Awesome. Up there with the best ones og GOT has to offer.

Yeah. It's too soon for those two to kill each other.

Yeah my prediction is season 3, probably the last episode of that season. They’ll save the dragonpit/hour of the wolf for season 4. This show simply isn’t going to be the same when all the heavy players are sidelined

It’s oddly sad seeing dragon and dragon crime. You feel like they don’t deserve what’s happening to them and wonder if they know what’s going on. Vhagar and Meleys were Baelon and Alyssa Targaryen’s (Viserys parents) dragons so I wonder if they were confused about why they were fighting. Also, Sunfyre was adorable. Felt like watching your golden retriever get horribly disfigured.

How bout Rhaenyra telling Jace about the song of Ice and Fire? So does Jace get to see Cregan again and tell him about it?
At some point the prophecy has to go extinct because one of the main plot points in the original series was nobody believing the White Walkers were really coming. Kind of interested to see where it goes because I don’t know how you can retcon the original show when you’re a prequel.

Yup -- Sunfyre practically bound up to Aegon and nuzzled him just before they went to battle. Just another example of how the directors are showing the deep connection between dragon and rider -- it makes the relationship more relatable and emotional for us.

I guess in all those historical volumes, maybe there's like a footnote on tactics for fighting with dragons.

WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW

This is an interesting thread that’s been woven into the show. The book doesn’t explicitly mention anything about the prophecy being passed down from generation to generation. If it does stall out then it’ll probably happen very soon, as at this point Jace is…umm…not long for this world.

Aegon III seems too young in the show to be possessed of such knowledge, and even if he is told …well…his later history shows he is not very keen on continuing Targaryen traditions

I just hope that they tie up that loose end nicely and give some closure to prophecy storyline instead of just forgetting about it. The way this show has been written gives me hope that they won’t make the same careless storywriting mistakes that pervaded the last seasons of GoT
