Why did Rhaeneys not simply go back to Dragonstone after she saw Vhagar?

do we think there is any chance Daemon survives the gods eye and somehow makes off to live his own life away from this shite? The books say his body was never found.

I'd love to think so. He has a lot of history in Essos, so maybe they make that a storyline. Maybe he gets to be the reason the eggs stayed safe.

If the show goes in-depth with his relationship with Nettles, they might imply that he survives and goes off to be with her. But it would be a pretty big departure if they outright show him surviving the Gods Eye. I wouldn’t necessarily mind it though.

There was some foreshadowing with Rhaenys telling Meleys "one last battle" so you knew they probably weren't gonna make it.

When flying over the Rooks Rest castle, I just knew Vhagar would be there to attack.

Meleys put up a good battle against Vhagar!

They implied she knew that was the Sea Snake’s bastard.

Maybe they want us to interpret it as her saying “frick this world.” She definitely knew she was going to die when she gave the attack order.

I took it to mean that she was doing her duty and still aimed to defend Rook’s Rest.

Well, she is a badass and wasn't gonna back down. She obviously knows she's gonna lose when she see Vhagar.

I was yelling at the TV about their decision to send her alone. Everyone needs backup

It’s my understanding House Black has far more dragons than the Greens. Should have flown in formation and ganged up on Daemon when they had the chance

How bout Rhaenyra telling Jace about the song of Ice and Fire?

So does Jace get to see Cregan again and tell him about it?

This.

She tried to inflict as much damage as possible on her way out.

No doubt; however, she did the Blacks a huge disservice losing one if their bigger dragons

Great point. Also, who ends up telling Aegon III? Is Jace the last one that learns of it?

That would mean he lives his life out in the mountains around the Vale.

We know that’s where Nettles ends up because there were Burned Men in the original show. The Burned Men’s right of passage originated by people trying to sneak up on Nettles and her dragon in the mountains.

The alternative was to send Rhaenyra herself (Aegon just showed why that’s a bad idea) or her heir in Jace. At this point Daemon isn’t responding to their ravens so they’re not real sure what he’s up to and he’s not an option.

Baela couldn’t have handled that either with her lack of experience.

You don’t anticipate they’re going to send two dragons (and they didn’t anticipate it either).

That's true. They don't think the King will go into battle, so they don't think it'd be 2 on 1. The flipside is Vhagar is so big, they should always plan to use multiple dragons against her, or him, I can't remember.

It was cool to see the difference in size when they showed the shadows/silhouettes on the left and right of the screen.

It gives some cool perspective when you consider Vhagar was the smallest of Aegon the Conquerors dragons. Could you imagine the Black Dread, Vhagar, and Meraxes rolling up in that fashion?
