Tonight maybe the worst episode in this franchise’s history.

I wonder if The Pink Dread is going to help the fight at Dragonstone...

Need I remind you so soon?

I didn't know Aegon was played by David Tennant's son.

That is something that GOT did very well.
Even though most of the power players were not likeable a lot of the side characters and supporting characters were very likeable.
I don’t think it’s fair to ask this show to produce a Tyrion he’s one of a kind. But a Bron, Hound, Red Vioer type of character is easy enough to to create. Someone who loves fighting, fricking, and crude jokes, should’ve made one of the brooding knights that type of guy instead.
Yeah, this is an odd situation where they actually need to stray from the books. The book goes through all of this with the important details, but there aren't any small moments. The TV show is the same way. Every scene is a major plot pusher.
They need to add some small moments in. This episode did a better job of that than the first four, but it is still absolutely trucking along through the story.
It makes me wonder if they know they have a set number of seasons to get it done. Like HBO said "you get three seasons, no more."

So they were showing a naked underage boy jacking off and kept him naked for the scene. And happened to give him the androgynous look?
No agenda there.
No agenda there.

i know im dumb but can people just confirm these questions?
1. So Cole and Rhaenyra dont have any kids together and haven't been on good terms since the previous episode 10 years ago?
2. The Commander who she has been banging, has he been in the previous episodes? im drawing a blank with him.
3. Can someone explain to me the fire scene at the end. It was so damn dark I could barely see who was in it.

I’m sensing from reading comments that the rest of this season is about to get insane, and I guess that’s why HBO did the big time jump in a single season as they felt they had to have truly wow moments to grab everyone, but I still don’t love it, feels so rushed.
It seems like there’s more than enough meat on the bone for the stuff with the younger actors to have been an entire season, and then do the time change in a separate season.
Things like Daemon’s new wife getting roasted would’ve been so much more impactful if I knew anything about her other than she’s the baby the king turned down and then she’s the chick Daemon was making side eyes at during the wedding.
O well, guess this is the new pace everyone loves so time to buckle up.

1. Correct
2. We saw him in the last episode. Larys tells him that when the Hightowers call their banners to war their lighthouse lights green, like Alicent’s dress. He also Carrie’s Rhaenyra out during the wedding scuffle.
3. Larys sent those prisoners to burn his brother and father at Harrenhall

Correct. He’s bitter AF that she chose to stay in Kings Landing and remain heir instead of running off with him to Essos after they slept together. Like SUPER bitter.

I believe we first get a good look at him when Rhaenyra is returning with the dead boar, he sees her, and he has a shite eating grin on his face. We also see him at her wedding. He’s the one that answered Larys when he asked what color Oldtown’s colors burn when signaling they’re going to war. He also grabbed Rhanerya and threw her over his shoulder when Cole went all murdery at her wedding.

Are you talking about where Laena (Daemon’s wife) gets roasted? If so, she knew she was going to suffer the same fate as the King’s first wife (but the baby wasn’t going to be viable) so instead of dying bleeding out and in agony she had Vhaegar take care of it.
It’s a shame we didn’t get more of her. I think the actress would’ve done well with Matt Smith.
ETA: Ahhh, Harrenhal.
As said, his brother sent the men from the jail to assassinate his brother and father for the Queen. It was implied either him, Daemon, or Coryls did it in the books but as with other tales it’s all been speculation to this point.

Alicent calling all the shots in this episode. She reminded me of Cersei a few times.

Thanks for answering. And he cut their tongues out so they would never tell anyone?

TBC I think the show is just fine, though agree it could use some moments of banter and letting us see other sides to personalities.
I think this though is some of the issue with sticking so closely to a source material that is, afterall, supplementary to GRRM's magnum opus and not something he spent 20 years crafting. Which also spans a wide range of history.
Likewise, there may be a bit of an over-correction in terms of Ryan Condal stating how he doesn't want to stray from the source material cause it gets you in trouble, implying how D&D messed it all up with random creative changes in earlier seasons that completely changed the overarching GRRM story and characters within(Littlefinger is a big one IMO).
I think they have also said there is a general idea of 4 seasons for this particular story. But like GOT, I think HBO would gladly take 10 if they could.

All the Targaryen men have that “elf like” look to them and have throughout the duration of the series. Aside from his hair, there’s nothing else about him that suggests he isn’t a boy/man.
I believe that was also the same window Tommen jumped out of in GOT.
If he is underage, he’s very close to at least 18 given the events coming in the next couple of episodes.
So no, no agenda there. Just a kid being stupid and getting caught by his Mom.

I just want to know the justification for Cole still being a member of the Kingsguard after turning a dude’s face into a ragu in the middle of a royal wedding feast. Because the Queen said it was all fine? Why was Viserys ok with that? Why would Rhaenyra be ok with that? Either of them could at least send him to the Wall against the Queen’s will and nobody would care.
