It's really good. I never saw the movie and I really had no idea what to expect going in. It's complicated as hell and you are on the cusp of some good plot reveal. Stick with it.
It's well done and touches on complicated issues of the nature of life and humanity.

Pretty much every fan theory turned out to be correct.
I think that makes it seem like people knew what was going to happen all long. Going through episode threads here and on reddit, there were MANY fan theories and some of them turned out to be true, but overall nobody knew exactly what was happening. There were many 'camps' that didn't want to give an inch and it made for some good discussions/theories.

original westworld did more in 2 hours than this tripe did in 20.

Beautiful production quality. Mostly just a jumbled mess. I give it 2.5 out of 4. It tried too hard. I'm still hung up on one technical detail: how often are the tableaus reset and why must the hosts actually shoot each other up if there are no guests present? Just seems like it would be impossible to keep up with that level of repair.

Negative. Overwhelmingly negative. I'm a fan of the original, but your statement isn't even close.

Yeah, HBO makes garbage
Unfortunately that seems to be the case. It's strange how they had so many fantastic series and then put out Veep, Newsroom, and Girls. Those 3 shows were either too political or they didn't appeal to a large enough audience IMO. Also, they were FAR different shows from what put them on the map. The shows that put them on the map for me were:
Carnivale
Deadwood
Game of Thrones
Boardwalk Empire
Rome
Nothing besides game of thrones has been anything close to those, not just in quality, but in ideas.
I was excited for westworld, but couldn't get into it.

was just another reminder to me that netflix has surprassed them.

It's no "Orange is the New Black" for sure.

Not great but very good. More interesting that anything else new I've tried lately.

Um the Sopranos and the Wire put HBO on the map way more than any of the shows you listed and long before Game of Thrones. But honestly stuff like Dream On was quite poplular long before Sopranos.
Also Hello Ladies was great and got cancelled because of Girls. Silicon Valley is outstanding and though I didn't care for it, many people really enjoyed the Brink.

dream on was groundbreaking in the field of televised nudity

Just finished the entire thing.
I thought it was good but not great. Never ended up caring for any of the characters and the tense situations felt inconsequential while playing out most of the time.
