It’s not fair. I just want a nice fantasy escape. If I wanted diversity I’d turn on cnn or go to the mall

No. The game dissociates itself from JK Rowling so much there’s even a trans character in the game. (For people afraid of woke stuff, they barely acknowledge it.)

Not counting the in game mini-game "If there's an apple, there's a stem".

That could be true in terms of overall franchise numbers but...

GTA V most profitable entertainment product

According to a new report by MarketWatch, GTA 5 has now sold over 90 million copies and generated over $6 billion in revenue since its initial release.

It has surpassed 175 million copies sold now.

Also, this stuff doesn't work in video games because a one off line from a character in a bar establishes nothing for the player. Without that article you linked, I'd have never known.

You can literally create a trans character as your player. It's the first activity you do in the game.

quote:

Hogwarts Legacy, as the developer is keen to emphasize, was created without the involvement of Rowling. The open-world game allows the player to customize their character, and create a trans Hogwarts student if they like; the game has even introduced the series first canonical transgender character, Sirona Ryan.

This is why this is so silly.

The creators licensed Rowling's IP and made their own thing. Including trans-related options and a character to poke a finger in Rowling's eye.

A vocal minority still wanted people to shun the game, and clearly most couldn't care less.

Not all that dissimilar to the Y'all Qaeda's crying about TLOU as it continues to break new IP viewership records for HBO.

People are more tolerant than the hillbilly Gileader's acknowledge or will accept, and they also care a lot less about worthless solidarity virtue signaling than the social justice warriors want to be true.

So?

HWL made that IN TWO WEEKS, versus the ENTIRE THEATRICAL RUN of Wakanda.

Who is suggesting that as many people bought Potter in 2 weeks, as saw Wakanda in 4 months?

You are reaching, man.

Are you suggesting the boycott worked, $850 million later?

Here is some math for you:

$60 is 4x $15

Wakanda has been out 15 weeks versus HWL's 2.

Wakanda 850/15= ~$57 million per week

HWL 850/2= $425 million per week

By your logic, using prices per unit, HWL should only be averaging $228 million per week.

While we're at it, lets compare the budget of both

WF: 250 million

HL: 150 million

Wait...why would you create a trans woman character when you could just create a normal woman?

Hogwarts Legacy also had a half-decade+ production time and if it didn't do huge numbers the studio literally can go bankrupt. Most of these studios are one failure away from bankruptcy or being bought out for pennies on the dollar by a mega company or publisher. And the profit they gain needs to largely sustain them through their next project.

It's all apples and oranges.

Also not sure why Wakanda Forever is relevant here? Did this author's racist synapses fire off when he meant to shoot off the anti-trans ones?

Does Hogwarts Legacy's revenue prove some sort of referendum on black superhero movies too?

Maybe they just think it’s interesting that a video game that was supposed to be boycotted thoroughly beat out one of the premier films of Phase 4

With a quick glance, that website has 33 pages of Wakanda related content....the first 5 I scanned, all negative, or used as a springboard for calling MCU too woke.

You and I aren't that dumb.

It's an entirely arbitrary and apples to oranges comparison from two completely different mediums...unless it's a regular feature of your anti-woke clickbait farming.

Hogwarts also narrowly beat out The Batman, beat Thor Love and Thunder, and came short of Dr Strange MOM. Could have led with the best-selling game of 2023 so far, bigger opening numbers than Elden Ring last year, which went on to bring in over a billion so far....But they picked the black superhero film that they have pages of negative articles about.

I'm not a huge fan of the HP series, but I've heard the game was a lot of fun from multiple people. I'm almost tempted to buy the game for the heck of it.

Apparently many still do!

I'm not so much a fan of the HP franchise, but I dig the concept. Never got into the prequel movies though, but whatever. Sounds like it's a proper well made game and most seem to enjoy it.

Imma going to buy it, just because.

Oh shite, is $60 per person more than $15? I had no idea.

One must have a console or PC costing 100's of $'s, at least, to play that 60$ game.

Far easier to drop $40 or so for a ticket and some popcorn to watch a movie ONCE than OWN a game that'll take hours and hours to finish.

But you do you.

Comparing a popular video game's revenue to that of a movie is extremely stupid.

She immediately fricked with them back declaring it not canon and the story is just fan fic lol. So the trans character doesn’t exist in the wizarding world, lol.

Completely agree, and I thought this whole boycott thing was ridiculous. But then I googled game reviews and found this from Wired who gave it a 1/10 and I got completely triggered.

Wired Hogwarts Review

I mean...I understand there's fake news and bias in journalism, but they just didn't even hide it. The game is not a 1 out of 10, they just did it for clicks and shock value. So, I guess Wired doesn't want me for a Customer. Unfortunately, they're not the only one. Gamespot didn't go as far, but they definitely lowered their score because of what Rowling said. WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACTUAL GAME. And they also have a disclaimer on every single Hogwarts article that they disagree with her views, blah, blah, blah. It's just crazy that these video game reviewers are even acknowledging this nonsense, it has nothing to do with the actual game. /end rant

If you check out it's previous reviews, it seems to be a dildo reviewer instead of a video game reviewer
