Ok, I’m about the open a can of worms here but it is the rant after all. Here’s the thing. I hadn’t heard about racist comments being made about Ingram though that doesn’t surprise. I never condone racism and to disparage any actor over race is wrong; however, she is really awful for that role—not because of her race or ethnicity—but because it just doesn’t seem to fit her. Either that or she just can’t act, but I refuse to believe that’s the case. Should we just ignore her performance is bad because she is a person of color, because that’s just as racist. Her approach to the character is cardboard and flat. She makes bland choices. The show is great, but that’s in spite of Ingram’s performance which just doesn’t seem to work. I think in any other day and age a producer would recast that or go in a different direction but in a world where Disney is trying to be a beacon of woke, they are ignoring better judgment. Also, I can think of many other black artists who could knock that role out of the park. Color has nothing to do with it.

I have no doubt their contracts force them to perform these theatrics. It's all so tiresome.

they had all of this planned ahead of time, before the show even premiered.

So glad I canceled Disney+. This shite is mind numbing.

You can be a critic of her character without lumping yourself in with people that send her messages like this:

I'm waiting for the whole season to drop so I can binge it so I have no real opinion on her acting yet. I do know that she openly admitted to not watching anything Star Wars related prior to her role.
I saw an interview with her and the actor that plays the Grand Inquisitor. They were asked if they went back and watched anything for research. The actor that plays the Grand Inquisitor says "Oh Yeah..." and the actress that plays Reva says "I actually didn't, I felt like I had so much freedom to make Reva who she wanted to be...It's really hard to believe but I had never seen any of the movies so it was really this experience that opened up the door to Star Wars for me"

Whether you think she can act or not, the racist messages she received are never cool.

Lol, are those the horrible racist messages?
Grow thicker skin. You are literally an actress in one of the most beloved franchises, your life is better than most of the people in human history.

Operation Get Behind the Darkies is from South Park, and it's a great comparison for how Disney Star Wars defends itself from criticism.

Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne on The Walking Dead and Okoye in Black Panther would have nailed this role...

That's fine.
He's not the real Darth Vader anyways.

Her entire filmography. I dont see how she really landed a starring role on an important series of a saga that is beloved to many people. I mean, I see why at Disney..but still.
