The biggest problem is that while there are always racist assholes out there, they're always going to be the loudest.
So anyone with a legitimate complaint will be drowned out by the folks who say "She sucks because she's black!"
Kelly Marie Tran got some hate dumped on her too. I don't know how good an actress she might be, as the writing for her character was so god-damned awful. That didn't stop people from saying some VILE shite to her on Instagram, and quite a bit of it incredibly racist.
For something so amazing, Star Wars has a fanbase chockfull of bigoted assholes. Any legitimate criticism will immediately be drowned out by them as they will latch onto that to justify their own hate, and drowning out people who truly just want the person to do better or get better writing for their characters.

She probably got some dms from some random accounts spouting racist nonsense, so they're of course using that to claim everyone who thinks she sucks in the role is a racist.
Nevermind that she actually sucks in the role and her character is completely undesired by Star Wars fans who actually did want to watch a show solely about Obi-Wan.

The show is far from great. The title is Kenobi but the whole plot seems to be the adventures of Leia and Reva. Darth Vader is the most powerful Jedi/Sith in the galaxy. He has no qualms about killing anyone. Yet when she mentions she has a tracking device ( which to me is a plot hole), he is like “ oh well then my bad. You may live bc how could I retrieve the tracking device information bc you have it.”
Literally makes no sense. He could get all the info from her using the force. Then kill her and go track Kenobi.
Many other issues make this show which had the potential to be great just about average.

I watched the first episode tonight and it’s obvious she’s just miscast. She just doesn’t have the intensity they seem to want this character to have.

Listen, they'll always be racist messages like this to incite people, but I have to admit this whole "woke" shite is going way too far, and I'm not young so the woke terminology and all of that is foreign to me. But you turn on the television now and all of the commercials are woke if I'm using it correctly, the tv shows like this crap Tom Swift are pure trash, it's just going overboard in this so-called woke society of today. Well, I've reached my limit with the term woke now, so I'll sign off.

She’s a little stiff, but she’s not terrible. And a lot of the comments are just straight up racist trash and don’t even mention her performance on the show. I saw one Twitter thread that was mostly about how she doesn’t belong in Star Wars, as if there aren’t already a ton of ethnic actors working in them.

Given how they treated the legacy actors of the original trilogy, none of this should be surprising.
