It's a movie about a kid's ride at a theme park built for kids. Is it supposed to "speak" to you? What a pretentious twat.

His quote perfectly sums up Disney’s recent failures IMO. They've abandoned entertaining kids and instead decided to market to the kids they entertained 20-30 years ago. The vocal minority from this demographic is online and extremely liberal.

Surely you jest. The answer is obvious.

The Muppets Haunted Mansion special on D+ is great. They should have just made that a feature film.

The original with Eddie Murphy was hilarious. Have zero plans to really watch this however. I can just rewatch the original.

Simien wanted to improve on the critically lambasted 2003 version starring Eddie Murphy, which he openly disparaged. “It was a kids movie that came out at a time when I was not a kid. It didn’t necessarily speak to me,” he tells us.

Do you have any idea what level of Narcisism you have to be at to even think something like this, much less actually say it to a national publication?

A Haunted Mansion would be one of the least scary planes in New Orleans after dark

They have no pulse on what today’s kids want or find entertaining and have since given up and just started catering to 20-30 year old demographic

Damn, that’s kind of awesome. Going to see it in a couple hours and I heard it’s very entertaining from those that have already seen it.

It’s not expected to make a killing, but should easily make back its $150 million budget. Despite some of their films underperforming, Disney is still crushing the other studios in profit for 2023.

The cast doesn't bother me, the why was this released in freakin July bothers me. I have zero interest in Halloween or spoopy movies right now.

It would have did a lot better in October. They did this same shite to Hocus Pocus and made it bomb in the theaters.

The movie sucks. It doesn’t matter who you cast if the movie sucks. Make good movies and you can have any cast you want. Please Disney, start making good movies again . You own too many properties to continue to be this god awful.

Ironic that NOLA is magically 85% black now and the guy doesn’t even wonder why it has lost a lot in that time. Nola was great because it was a true mix if cultures. Yes, black culture (NOLA) was a big part, but so was creole, Cajun, white and Spanish.

After Katrina and the huge numbers of people fleeing the cesspool it became, it is nothing like the great city it was. That’s not because the black population percentage went up. It’s because the city lost its identity thanks to morons like Nagin.

Instead of saying he wanted to infuse more of that aspect of the culture as part of the film, he insists it be seen as a black film and focuses on the 85% of the city being black now. It’s pathetic and typical identity focused bullshite instead of making it a good story.

I will simply watch the original with my kids and not bother showing them this propaganda piece.

It’s wrong to single out one race and make the movie “black” for no other reason than you want to promote one race.

But…other than that, I think it’s great they chose black characters. It’s not like they recast the characters like a white mermaid to a black mermaid. This is the perfect movie to “make black”. If they want more black characters, make them up like they did here. Don’t recast and change the classics.

What I find hilarious is he says he wanted them black because NO is majority black. Makes sense. Kind of like making movies to please the majority of your customer base, whatever race they may be.

A worn down house where murders likely happened, the grass isn’t cut, the shutters need painting, and 3 of the windows are broken.

Sounds like they know what they are talking about

Never stop chasing that 13% of the population that’s also the poorest. The target demographic of everything for some reason.
