So this movie wasn’t really early to the Halloween season, it was really late from last Halloween season?

Disney’s new movie slogan should be “Bombs away”

Wrong. It was very good.

It better be big, internationally, because it's bombing here. It's going to have an opening weekend of 25 million. Yikes!
It’s basically tracking as predicted, but only made like $9 million internationally. So yikes indeed. Guess it won’t make back its budget.
A good example of how inflated budgets are right now is that we mostly think of Disney bombs this year, but they have 6 of the top 10 highest grossing movies of 2023. As someone who has worked on these big budget pieces of shite before, there is sooooooo much unnecessary money being spent, but they don’t want to pay the people that are the reason your movie is going to be good, or on a lesser scale, drop a $150 a day PA to “cut costs” at the end of a shoot. And that $150 averages out to less than minimum wage when hours worked get factored in. When I was coming up it was even less. Poor bastards.

It was tracking to be on par with the first one? I highly doubt that Disney expected that

I assume you're mad at me for calling the OT's resident racebaiter a racebaiter, but I have no idea what your comment means. I don't know that I've ever discussed the Pelicans on TD.

i’ve seen commercials that look funny but this is the exact kind of movies 0 people will see in theatres when they can watch it in Disney+ in october when they want kids friendly halloween movies.

No one expected Barbie and Oppenheimer to be the behemoths they clearly are. I don't know that this movie would have done well anywhere on the calendar, but it might have done a little better somewhere else.

Franklin Leonard is the root of half of Hollywood's woke problem right now.

He probably should have tried to make it ‘green’ as possible. Movie was a Daisy Cutter sized bomb at the box office
Posted on 7/31/23 at 7:26 am to Jay Are
It would’ve done better in the fall when nothing is going on and now with the strike it’ll be even more slim pickings. Their bombs are starting to pile up.

Me and my 2 kids (22 and 17) saw it this weekend.
We liked it very much.
If you like the ride, the call backs are fantastic.
If you have never been to Disney...you will not understand alot but its still a good movie.
I didnt see anything Woke or BS and the black lead was very good in the movie.

Disney sacrificing profit to cater to demographics that don’t want to see their movies
