Has anyone seen The Others with Nicole Kidman? I always thought that was a really underrated film.

That ending was just a pure kick to the balls.

I prefer You're Next to this, mostly because YN is more subversive, more unique and a little more fun.

Big fan of You're Next checking in. I tend to like horror that subverts the genre a bit.

Cabin in the Woods is another one that's been mentioned. Slither is one that hasn't been mentioned yet.

Pulse in a landslide for me.

I loved The Witch and It Follows for much more recent greats.

Technically 1999, but definitely deserves mention.

Horror has been one of the best genres in film over the last 10-15 years or so. Just tons of stuff out there. Since 2000 is a long time, haha

Best FILM is probably Let the Right One In or 28 Days Later

Best Traditional Horror - The Descent or The Strangers. Autopsy of Jane Done. Or even The Conjuring.

Scariest is probably Insidious, Hereditary, or The Ring. Maybe Session 9 or It Follows

I'd add Train to Busan and Green Room to this list, but that covers it pretty well. The best low budget horror is They Look Like People, which will haunt me forever. Lots of critics like [Rec] though I'm not as sold.

Audition misses the cut by one year, but needs a mention anyway.

We really are in a golden age of horror, and I'm so pumped for it.

High Tension

I believe it's a French film but it's on Amazon.

It’s kind of subjective depending on what you’re definition of “best” is at it relates to horror.

For me, the scariest have been The Ring and The Strangers. Many others are just jump scares, but those two stuck with me as terrifying

Is really fantastic. Even The Host was post-2000. Ugh, so many movies.

Green Room

Solid add.

It took me two watches for some reason, but yeah I loved that movie.

Don’t Breathe is terrific too, although it’s not a traditional horror flick.

It Follows, The Witch, Trick R Treat, Cabin in the Woods(if you consider it horror), and Ill add The Conjuring. It scared the shite out of me more than any other horror movie Ive seen since I was little.

Lights Out got savaged by critics for its central metaphor of depression essentially, well, killing a person so that death was seen as a relief. But I think that's exactly why it's such a good horror movie. That's how depression feels.

I kinda want my horror movies to push on the bleeding edge of what is acceptable. That's what makes it horror. (Sorry, I think Lights Out and Don't Breathe would make a spectacular double feature)

France had a great run of horror in the mid 00s but I'd say High Tension was the worst. Martyrs and Frontiers are both much better. I really like Inside too.

On that note, The Good Neighbor. So good.

I totally endorse The Conjuring for sheer terror. It's probably the scariest movie I've ever seen even though there are "better" movies. The hide and clap scene is so tense.
