Horror has been one of the best genres in film over the last 10-15 years or so. Just tons of stuff out there. Since 2000 is a long time, haha

Best FILM is probably Let the Right One In or 28 Days Later

Best Traditional Horror - The Descent or The Strangers. Autopsy of Jane Done. Or even The Conjuring.

Scariest is probably Insidious, Hereditary, or The Ring. Maybe Session 9 or It Follows

My favorite might just be The Invitation or You're Next. I'm also partial to The Guest if you classify that as horror.

That's a 20 year span almost, but Hereditary is the best I've seen lately.

Yes, the original, foreign version.

The Strangers.

Big thumbs up to this, also.

I don't care much for horror, or at least I went a long stretch without caring for it. I can agree with most of what you said, but you have to give a nod to Paranormal Activity and Saw just because of the impact they had.

Also Cabin in the Woods

The first that popped into my mind without having to Google anything to refresh my memory were:

The Ring and Kairo.

With memory refreshed:

The Orphanage
The Descent

Are also favorites though not the scariest.

Agreed.

I prefer You're Next to this, mostly because YN is more subversive, more unique and a little more fun. But as a traditional slasher horror, The Strangers is fantastic.

The Witch for me. At the very least it’s top 3.

Let Me In is great. I think I prefer it to the original.
