Honestly, looking back it now, it’s really not as bad as in any people say it is, especially compared to today’s fantasy films.

The book was 10/10. The movie was nothing less than a Leo vessel that morphed in to a disaster.

In my top 5 disappointments (book adaptations) with Eragon being the undisputed champ.

I disagree about Shutter Island. As far as Scorsese goes, and I'll probably get piled on here, but I really did not like Gangs of New York. DDL is fantastic as usual, but I just found the whole thing boring in a way completely unlike Scorsese. The soundtrack was awful, the sets were dull and looked like a Disney ride, and Miramax involved themselves way too heavily.

Scorsese should be raw, brutal, and edgy. GONY was anything but that imo

Cameron Diaz's worst performance. They also changed the truth to have the American gang leader murder the Irish gang leader when the opposite occurred in real life.

I thought it was a good movie much better than his last one I saw, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre.

If Cameron Diaz’s character didn’t exist Gangs would have been a way better movie. Or if they had just cast anyone else, she was really bad. Otherwise I do really enjoy watching that movie

It's Shutter Island fwiw.

I get why someone wouldn't care for Shutter Island, but it's still a well made movie. Scorsese actually had a few stinkers in the 70's though. Boxcar Bertha and New York New York are definitely "worse" movies.

Terrible lead actor choice. He can't act.
The sound was trash.

Among Scorsese movies, I didn’t really care for Bringing Out the Dead.

I suspect it would have been a bigger hit if it was released a decade prior, but I realize that it is impossible since the source material was also written in the late 90s.

Shutter Island, of course, but I agree. Don't understand the love people have for this movie - the twist at the end is absurd
I disagree. The movie mostly gets panned here, but it’s a well made and acted movie. The twist at the end isn’t surprising and can be foreseen, but the overall journey of the movie is good - not great - but good.

I finally caught this turd on a flight a few weeks ago. I was laughing and couldn't believe this is what they came up with. Then I was sorta annoyed.

Could add West Side Story.

Been a while since he released a banger.
