Let’s not forget that the only way they break the wall is by the magnicent 7 adventure north of the wall that ended causing them to lose a dragon
I mean if they never go north the white walkers are still banging on the wall

It was like a parody. The part where they all laugh at Sam was sooooo bad.
Someone needs to edit that scene to a freeze frame and roll credits like 80s comedies
It was so out of place

Clearly there was foreshadowing a couple of episodes ago when Jon said he wish he was going with the free folk. That was pretty major foreshadowing
Yep. I said this a few weeks ago:
quote:
Did the powers that be just set in motion him living north of the wall when all is said and done? Maybe he fakes his death so that Dany is seen as the true heir while he lives in oblivion among the Wildlings, and Ghost, for the rest of his days. ...
While wrong about Dany, I wasn’t too far off with the rest.

Master of Coin: Lord Bronn Blackwater
Here's a guy who, throughout the entire series, cared only about gold and himself. Let's put him in charge of money!

Bronn is how heavily invested in the kingdom it’s notnlike he can take the money and run. He’s better off living in Highgarden .

The laugh at the idea of democracy was so bad I had to look away.
Cringe Level 1000.

It’s more like why would you put an uneducated person who knows nothing about finances in charge of all the money. I mean he literally said to Tyrion in the earlier seasons he knew nothing about finances or trade. He would’ve been better off as a Master of War because he is an experienced solider and has leadership experience.

Was that old codger beside Sam supposed to be Howland Reed?
frick D&D with a baseball bat if they burned up his character with that worthless appearance.

Never thought I would see fan ratings like these from GOT.

the falcons had a better finish in that Super Bowl than GOT. It’s like the writers all got lead poisoning

I’ve been watching those IMDB scores just flatline, it’s incredible when you look at the scores of every other episode.
I think the episode with the sand snakes was an 8.1, far and away the worst reviewed in the series. Everything else ranges from 8.9-9.9 consistently.
This season has cranked out the following on IMDB
8.0
8.2
7.9
5.9
6.5
4.7

I still can’t get over how bad the two council meetings that ended the show were.
Cheesy and nonsensical.
Yes, they were that.
However, Davos did get a good zinger in there on Bronn!

Unbelievable that a near perfect show for 5 seasons ended so poorly. Really makes me appreciate .....Dexter.

It was not obvious. At no point did you mention during any of these threads that it was obvious Bran was going to be the king. You're mentioning points that connect together after the fact not stuff you put together before.
Even after the fact, it still isn’t that obvious. They are relying on the line “why do you think I came all this way..” to say it is something he even desired.
I mean out of a show centered around at least a dozen people jockeying to be ruler, we “learn” that Bran positioned himself to be ruler and won the entire game with 20 minutes left of screen time, with absolutely zero insight as to why he would want that position.
I thought for sure he would at least close out the stark montage with a sinister look or something.
Nope, all good, Bran is the new king because he sees shite that he doesn’t tell anyone about. Oh wait you wanted to be the king? Did you plan this mf’er? What else haven’t you told us? Nah, this has been exhausting, just be the king, Jon go home, roll credits

Jon was effectively mentally retarded this episode so, given that, he probably told them
Was thinking he’d hide the puddle of blood and just be like “I don’t know, she got on Drogon and flew away?!?” Then later establish his right to rule.

This season was terri-bad. Not only did the writers not seem to know how to continue using the symbology Martin had woven into this world, some dumbass decided "frick it, let's just rush through and collect out cash so we can get on to the next thing."
The beginning of the episode could have used a little less walking but it was a good build-up for Dany's arrival. The dragon wings behind her, the dark colors... it had a dark and foreboding feel to it. Everything worked as it should have up to the point where Jon killed Dany. I would have liked to see a bit more exchange between them with him trying to convince her and maybe her finally snapping and trying to kill him because she thought he wanted the throne. Even though he would have killed her in self-defense the Unsullied would have probably reacted the same.
I liked that they tied up everyone's story. This was like the anti-Sopranos ending, all it needed was Oprah yelling "You get a conclusion! You get a conclusion! EVERYBODY GETS A CONCLUSION!!!"
What I didn't like was the slip-shod way they jump forward in time. I didn't like the dragging feeling after Dany was killed.
What I didn't like the most was the stupid fricking idea of sending Jon back to Night's Watch. Are you fricking kidding me? The Night King is dead and The Wall has a ginormous-fricking-hole in it. What's the point of a Night's Watch now??
And then the Unsullied were the primary reason that Jon was forced to take the black? Well guess what, they were fricking LEAVING WHEN JON WAS! Why not wait an hour or so til they get over the horizon then everyone just stays in KL and goes to the bar to joke about how guys that are the biggest dicks have no balls?
I was thrilled to see Jon and Ghost reunited (who's a good boy!) but that whole line of reasoning was weak, at best.

The ending I wanted, now that I've thought about it a bit:
1. Jon and Dany get into a verbal fight about what just happened at King's Landing. Jon says he cannot support a Queen that does that to innocent people. Dany calls him treasonous and Grey Worm enters the frame.
2. Grey Worm and Jon get into an epic 1-on-1 fight scene in front of the Iron Throne. Jon wins and kills Grey Worm.
3. Dany gets that mad queen look in her eyes and yells Dracarus to tell Drogon to burn Jon alive. Drogon refuses to burn Jon because he is a Targareon and recognizes him as a non-threat that has been on dragons.
4. Dany continues to scream Dracarus while Drogon is stoic and does not respond, then Jon stabs the unsuspecting Drogon in the throat with his Valerian steel.
5. Dany mourns Drogon intensely and her and Jon have a brief exchange about her children being dead, etc. then Dany swan dives off the red keep, committing suicide.
6. Jon, who just killed Grey Worm and Drogon, becomes a hero to the remaining people of King's Landing for avenging that massacre and killing the dragon that burned everyone.
7. He becomes the king known as the Dragon Slayer (has that been taken?)
8. Bran becomes his hand, to guide him in the right direction for decades to come.
9. The rest of the show plays out how it did, but Jon, as King, asks for support at the meeting of Lords of the houses/kingdoms. Only Sansa requests independence, which he grants.
10. He has Tyrion as his Master of Coin, Brienne as something, and maybe a few other spots I can't think of.
11. Names Tormund King of the land north of the wall. Call it whatever.
12. Last scene is Jon, wearing the crown, approaching the throne with Ghost and he sits down, and looks up...and fade to black.
That is good fan fiction, but that is not how GRRM writes, he always seems to reward the hero that do not demonstrate the traditional virtues of heroism. A great warrior as John was never going to take the thrown, that is just not how the books are setup. His most badass characters are an midget, cripple, a 90 lb weakling girl that becomes the most bad arse warrior and massive woman that embodies all the traditional virtues of knighthood but could never be one. None of these are the traditional warrior types of mythology.
