How do we know the WW's have been trying to get south?

Maybe a black shield and sword after their words: "I am the sword in the darkness" ... "I am the shield that guards the realms of men." Or maybe a crow.

Well, here's my spoiler-free prediction: next episode will be mostly talking, to set up the last two episodes (fall of KL and fall of the Wall).

Dany will accept the surrender and bending of knees of the forces she just beat, and I do give Bronn greater then 50% odds of flipping (hey, it's the winning team). Tyrion keeps Jaime from being executed. This flips the Tyrells back, and perhaps the Lannisters overall against Cersei (not in KL, but in the homelands).

We get some update on the Unsullied, perhaps now as Tyrion's personal occupation/guard over both Casterly Rock and the Reach. He's now charged with provisioning the forces, and overseeing the Lannister submission.
-Allowing Jaime to live and bend the knee might win the Lannisters over, and convince Jaime this isn't the Mad King revisited, as he's allowed to lead his disarmed men back to their homes, or to take the offer of peaceful surrender to Cersei *actually, I think THIS is the play with Jaime. BTW, this would drive Cersei batshit.

Dany returns to Dragonstone, picks Jon up, and they fly together to Winterfell. Meets with Bran who has all sorts of interesting news. Tentative deal is reached, they both return South to discuss the taking of KL, and prepare for the war in the North that is coming.
I think maybe Jon approaches Drogon to leave before Dany is in control of the dragon, causing her to react with horror as the dragon should incinerate him. It doesn't, and either confirms what Bran says, or if he kept it quiet, confirms to Dany that Jon is special (and must have Targaryen blood). I think this will lead to him becoming a rider next season.

Jaime counsels Cersei to accept stepping down, and she instead plans something stupidly evil (that he may not be aware of this episode, but it's what drives him to act next week).

As I said, no spoilers involved with my guesses. We can all guess the basic direction this series is going now, and based on what the characters have been like, these seem to be likely paths that move us to the end of the season.

Ok, we don't. But Benjen is undead, and can't pass. Stannis had no problem moving his army beyond the wall to whup Mance. Before then, Mance and his people were up there in significant numbers. The Night's Guard can come and go. It doesn't keep men out.

Don't overthink this.

And speaking of the Wildlings and the Wall keeping men out, didn't Stannis bring a large force North of the Wall to rout Mance?

"I defeated your uncle and his Iron Fleet off Fair Isle, the first time your father crowned himself.
I held Storm's End against the power of the Reach for a year, and took Dragonstone from the Targaryens.
I smashed Mance Rayder at the Wall, though he had twenty times my numbers.
Tell me, turncloak, what battles has the Bastard of Bolton ever won that I should fear him?"

Well, I have another one from Stannis:

quote:

Bowen Marsh beside Slynt said, "Who better to command the black cloaks than a man who once commanded the gold, sire?"

"Any of you, I would think. Even the cook." The look the king gave Slynt was cold. "Janos was hardly the first gold cloak ever to take a bribe, I grant you, but he may have been the first commander to fatten his purse by selling places and promotions. By the end he must have had half the officers in the City Watch paying him part of their wages. Isn't that so, Janos?"

Slynt's neck was purpling. "Lies, all lies! A strong man makes enemies, Your Grace knows that, they whisper lies behind your back. Naught was ever proven, not a man came forward . . . "

"Two men who were prepared to come forward died suddenly on their rounds." Stannis narrowed his eyes. "Do not trifle with me, my lord. I saw the proof Jon Arryn laid before the small council. If I had been king you would have lost more than your office, I promise you, but Robert shrugged away your little lapses. ‘They all steal,' I recall him saying. ‘Better a thief we know than one we don't, the next man might be worse.' Lord Petyr's words in my brother's mouth, I'll warrant. Littlefinger had a nose for gold, and I'm certain he arranged matters so the crown profited as much from your corruption as you did yourself."

Pretty sure Kit, Emilia, and Alfie are each 30, almost 31 at this point (all 3 born in 1986).

Well they did a pretty shite job since men just built castles on it and dug tunnels through it.

Agree. Somebody on twitter summed it up perfectly:

"I really hope that guy that tried to kill a 10 year old and raped his sister next to his son's corpse isn't dead.

I really like him"

What Tyrells?
That's me being lazy. By Tyrells, I'm including their vassal houses too. So I mean the Tarly's, and the other houses that flipped to the Crown alongside them.

Also, don't read the comments of any video posted in this thread. I did and saw a spoiler. It's not major (at least I don't think it is), but it seems to be confirmed.
