I hope the spy is someone completely unexpected like Missandei.
I've heard this mentioned before and it would really be a shock to the audience if she was. I kind of like the idea.
Family held for ransom, to stop the invasion? If so, we never ever heard anything of this before.
Maybe she wants Dany to go back to Essos and leave Westeros alone? Interesting, but among the most naive things we'll ever hear.
Was she a plant from the get-go, loyal to the initial sellers of the Unsullied? Was SHE behind the Sons of the Harpy, and other Meereen messes?
Now THAT has potential, and Dany has already dealt with one traitorous slut. Missandei has been at the heart of all strategy sessions, so she'd have ample opportunity to gather info and feed it to various baddies. She's compromising Grey Worm, and has done so awhile now. I think he'd cut her throat if she was behind something... which makes me think it might happen

I think Varys will wrongly be accused and executed and it will be someone unexpected.

Now that's a theory that I've never read on Reddit or anywhere else, and I like it. I'd recant my "Missandei is boring as hell" opinion that I've been vehemently stating since S3 if she proves to be a mastermind/plant.
Kind of off-topic, but with Cersei talking about the Golden Company in the show, will we see Daario come into the fold to try and woo Dany back? I know he's in the Second Sons and not the Golden Company, but I'm curious if the show runners would bring him back with that plot line or if he's stuck in Essos for the rest of the series.

I think they are trying to pare down the story lines, and we won't see Daario again.

Doubt it. I don't think we'll see him again. He'd just want to hang out ruling Slaver's Bay.

Bronn's pretty open-minded about his loyalties, he tends to not end up on the side getting dead. He said that plainly when he told Tyrion goodbye a couple seasons ago.
Have to think that if he's present at Dany's speech, after what he just saw, he's gonna be doing the odds again, and most likely telling Jaime the same thing.
I'd agree, except he shot her dragon in front of her. He will be lucky if he gets to live if captured.

Tyrion may put himself on thin ice asking for mercy for both Bronn and Jaime.

I'm of the opinion that there is no spy. If there was, they would probably have done more to set it up. I think we are supposed to assume they were outsmarted.

Do we still count her as a shape-shifter?

Damn some admin went nuclear in the hodor thread
I had already edited out what I posted and they gave me an unreadable block

They went nuclear on a 100 post thread??
I thought basically everyone except Cocomo was posting in this one anyway.

I accidentally replied in that one but immediately deleted my post but they've got unreadable signs on my post and OMLs post. Not sure what he was doing in there
It's kind of a dick move because now it looks like I posted spoilers

Glad I didn't get banned, but I went in there and mocked that poster who said Jon and Dany are siblings, and that the Targaryens weren't like the Lannisters in getting down with their siblings. That was the gist of it at least, and other readers had their posts taken down as well.

My post was responding to that guy and saying "Do you see why we see the Hodors as morons with this being said authoritatively?" almost verbatim.

What the frick did you say to my incredibly harmless post that got destroyed?
We need another middle ground thread. The Hodor thread is idiotic speculations and this thread is slightly less idiotic speculations with a some spoilerish insinuations.

There is no spy.
Dany had an unstoppable force. This is nothing more than she got cute for one, and it happens to be TV. So they had her suffer a bit.

In the books, there were two possible prophecies which could apply. I dont remember if either has been mentioned in the show:
1 - Beware the perfumed seneschal. This certainly could apply to Varys, but GRRM throws in so many red herrings its hard to say which one will be real.
2- You will be betrayed 3 times, once for blood, once for gold and once for love. The first two are sometimes thought to be Mirri Maz and Jorah from earlier. But its not set in stone.

There's a book forum on the left, if you want book readers only. But just remember, in the books Stannis is still alive, and Jon is apparently dead. And NONE of this has happened yet.
This is the movie/TV forum, and Game of Thrones is the hottest show on TV right now. It's also a complex, very involved show (even just the show), and not everyone bases their entire lives around memorizing every detail from every season. We just had an episode which, like Hardhome, will rival most of the summer blockbusters in terms of raw special effects excitement, so a ton of people are going to talk about it.
I guess I'm like some others in that I haven't read the books, but am trying to glean as much background info as possible, to wring as much enjoyment as I can out of a great show. It's why I'm on this thread. I know a lot are just jokes, but some of this "hodor" crap is actually serious, and people are getting a bit too antagonistic.
Peace
