Glad to see Varys pop up again and have some meaningful discussion with Daenarys. Its weird to hear him agree to be totally forthright with her.
Cercei's new toy is just a gigantic version of Joffrey's. No way she actually aims and hits a dragon with that thing. If she does I will be incredibly pissed. Balerion the Dreads skull would have been much larger. I would imagine Drogons skull is that size if not bigger right now.
Im not sure that the Jon and Dany meeting will be so pleasant at first. When she was talking to Olenna in private Olenna instructs her to "be a dragon". She did not look happy at the end sitting on the Dragonstone throne.

Its what he does and what the Ironborn are known for
Yara had her ships lit up
His prize to Cersei was always going to be the sand snakes so he already knew where they were goin most likely.

I'm sure it's been said more than once so far in this thread, but the show's writers are suffering from not having source material to lean on. Thanks, Fat Man Martin.
I think this is pretty much the bottom line. I'm still enjoying the show and I thought this episode was ok. But it seems to me that D&D were much better at adapting George Martin's writing than they are at writing stuff themselves based maybe on what he told them about how the story will play out but without his actual prose.
Despite his faults as far as productivity goes, one thing that Martin is is a pretty brilliant master of narrative, dialogue and basically writing a story. D&D did a great job of translating that to the screen.
But, to me, the show since they ran out of Martin material has been hit and miss. There have been some excellent episodes (Hardhome, etc.) and some good episodes. But there have also been quite a few average or slightly above average episodes and even a few clunkers (I'm thinking Sand Snakes stuff and the end of the Ayra in Bravos stuff).

How do y'all think Euron knew exactly where the fleet was in the middle of the night?
I mean, Dragonstone is right on the edge of Blackwater Bay, and that's where we last saw Euron. Not that unfeasible he had some scout ships and then when they left they just followed them.

He also has a century or so in age and ranged free.
I'm gonna be pissed if it's goes from "if you don't get it in the eye, it's not worth the try," to lol Dragonheart repeat.
All the stories about The Dance of Dragons. Knights trying to sneak up and get that one for sure stab with sword or lance.

Well then Yara is even worse of a commander than I thought. Because if he had scout ships out there and she didn't, that's fricking stupid.
Or if they didn't, idk, notice a bunch of ships following them then that fleet was full of incompetency.

2 questions:
Were Yara n Theon on their way back with the Dorne host or en route to pick up?
And
Is Gendry gonna pick up Theon, and if so, does he say, "You can ride, but you're rowing this mf"
?

Most likely back from adorns. Ellaria was at Dragonstone but we didn't see the Sand Snakes there. Also, the Sand Snakes were talking about a coming battle, not visiting home.

Has Gendry been rowing in circles right off the coast for 1.5 years now?

What Dorne host? You mean Ellaria and the Sand Snakes? Ellaria was already there on Dragonstone. Dany told them to go to Dorne (maybe drop off the Sand Snakes) not pick up anybody.

Maybe they were talking about a 'cumming' battle

This is completely false

I thought Danny said, "go pick up the Dornish army and move it to KL."
Not much point in bringing that giant arse fleet to drop 4 women off in Dorne.

No they weren't coming back from Dorne. They were going to Dorne. This was evident by Ellaria talking about how when they got to Dorne she show Yara some real Dornish drink that was much better than the ale they had on the ship.
Posted on 7/24/17 at 10:13 am to 1BamaRTR
Yeah they were on their way to Dorne

Forgot about that line. So the Dornish army essentially remains unbloodied, but leaderless at the moment.
