It's understood that every storyline isn't happening at the same exact point in time.
They aren't happening too far apart. As we get closer to the end we're seeing those timelines merge closer together. So many fast-forwards at the same time (Arya appearing at The Twins to kill Walder and Vaerys being on a ship sailing TO Dorne even though to the viewer he was just there) was a bit disjointing for many viewers (thus all the comments about how those two appeared where they did and when).

I picked up the first book in 1999 at the Minneapolis St Paul airport in my first ever business trip after graduating college and have been following the series every since. I actually was bored with the book at first as it starts slow. Put it down for three months started reading it again and devoured the rest of the book and the second as well. Waited eagerly for the 3rd to be released. Devoured that one as well. Since then it's been nothing but long fruitless waiting as the plot stared to bog down and book releases were pushed back. When I bought the first book it was supposed to be a trilogy. Then the scope expanded and they said 5 books. The 4th book was finished but it was too long so they were going to break it into two books. 11 years for those two books to be released. Maybe we will get the next book before season 7? Probably not.
The show did more to advance the plot in a little over an hour last night than GRRM has done in the past 16 years.

I still don't understand the thought behind the Tarly plot.
"I'm going to r-u-n-n-o-f-t with the family sword, then go exactly where I told them I was going."

I think I am finally over Stannis' death and am ready to fully move on to Team Night King.

quote:Sam and Bran are your only windows into the past at this point. Sam's scene had to happen. It wasn't that long.
We spent 10 minutes watching Sam look at a library like a choclate donut but then at the end they named like 3 kings and queens within 10 minutes total time. Sam scene was totally worthless
quote:lol. No.
Jons king in the North scene shouldve been the ender, not Danys fleet.
quote:It helped get us to Dany and Tyrion's convo. No issues with it.
dany and daario scene is just as lame as the sam scene. we couldnt have shoved those two scenes in two episodes ago?

Yeah not sure he got away by riding on a farmer's cart. I'm pretty sure his daddy would ride him down and whip his arse.

Sam is boring as shite but that scene was dope. We all wanted to see the citadel and they delivered.

Tbf, that's how GRRM pronounces it

5.) The opening scene was so epic. Beautiful pay off. I was getting a little impatient because of how long it was but it came out great
Easily the best sequence of the last 2 seasons and maybe 2nd to the Red wedding.

First I have to give major appreciation to D&D. The show has taken liberties in the past that I didn't care for, but this was, IMO, the greatest episode of any series I've ever watched. I can't think of a single change I would want them to make. Literally stood up and danced the entrie Frey Pie and Arya slicing that frickers throat scene. Bravo D&D. Bravo.
Going to depend how many season they have left. If two they do dragon horn and kill one of the dragons off. If just one season, Dany will wax Cersei and Euron and move right to the North in time for the Other Bowl. Can't wait for next season.

which is why Euron's horn has to come in play next season IMO

I liked that the maester admin assistant was the guy from Klown - Frank Hvam. That guy is funny.

the entire season could've been. As great as it is, the writing faltered without Martin's fleshed out manuscript. Some things were rushed while other stuff felt a bit off. Tyrion for instance is not nearly as cleverly written as he had been, though they still do a good enough job with him.

Did D&D forget that they did R+L=J in the episode? they completely ignored it in the post game commentary
It was a soft reveal. They never came out and slapped viewers in the faces with it. It was a read-between-the-lines moment, so I believe they are saving the confirmation for next season. Speaking on it in the after show interview would undermine this plan.

damn man, imagine at this very point being told you can never watch the show again, and getting punished? That's the sentence you gave that kid.

why exactly? we knew where he was going. we already knew theres a big library. atleast have him pull a book off the shelves that discusses white walkers or some shite. Im just saying that couldve been done like 5 episodes ago and been just as effective, and wouldve had more time at the end to flesh out TOJ/King of the north/Cercei end scenes a little more. I mean R+L-=J gets confirmed and its like the 5th to last scene in the show and is kind of brushed over

How was that a soft reveal?
the only thing they have left to reveal or confirm on the show is that it was RHegars baby and thats not really something you have to come out and say

quote:That's fair. But you need to be honest... no matter when it happened, people would complain about a Sam scene. He's there. He has access to a ton of info that will be important. I don't think it made this episode any "worse".

quote:I don't think time was a consideration in this episode. D&D did everything they set out to do. They don't want to go into the TOJ details. They have to save something. You're acting like everything needed to be answered and fleshed out last night when we still have at least 13 more episodes. R+L=J confirmation was huge by itself. There's nothing to flesh out anyway until Bran can get to someone so he can pass the info along.
more time at the end to flesh out TOJ/King of the north/Cercei end scenes a little more

Over/under how long Cersei sits the Throne??
Three months?
I think the theme in this story is: sitting on the Iron Throne is a death sentence. I initially thought Cersei would make it to the end but now I think she's finished.
If Cersei died wouldn't that make Jaime King (on the show)? Since he's no longer on the King's guard?
I could see Jaime killing Cersei. Cersei will likely push Jaime to have another child. Jaime may pull a murder/suicide instead.
Or Arya could get to Cersei... Or Dany...
But I'm kinda pulling for Tyrion to finish Cersei himself.

I thought they fleshed it out pretty perfectly
what else did you need to see?
Posted on 6/27/16 at 9:40 am to skirpnasty
I don't see Jaimie and Tryion being on opposing sides.
Of course if that did happen who would oppose Dany?
I don't see the North caring at all about King's Landing anymore.
It's all gotta be the Others vs the living.
But this too presents a problem, we almost have to have a major character go to the other's side. People keep expecitng the current Night king to die and a formwer hero take his place. (most people think Jon it seems)
Though if movie history has told me anything, anything at all, the only people who go to the other side are the ones who crave power more than all else. Someone who would kill a friend and marry an enemy for power. Someone who is really behind every major event of the show, yet has no real ability to get the exact thing he wants. He is one Raven away from an execution.
So I feel that Littlefinger will be the Night's King.
That's my crackpot of the week.
