Not that it looks bad or anything, but I'm going to need more than "80s nostalgia: the movie" starring the kid from "80s nostalgia: the tv show."

Looking up Mckenna Grace, she seems like she's got some strong SJW leanings. She shills for PETA and the fact that she had anything to do with Captain Marvel is kind of disappointing.

You're referring to the child, right? Don't you have anything better to do than instagram kids? I'd bet that you, me, and everyone else in this thread were over-enthusiastic idealist idiots in some direction or another as teenagers.

Nah, just looked on the IMDB movie page link to her actor page.

Sure, but no one indulged it while putting me in movies. Anyway, fame and fortune are tried and true arresters of personal human development, so I'm sure we can expect to see this for the foreseeable future. It's not like she's surrounded by mature adults, and the few who are are probably molesting her.

It looks like they're taking the original movies as more serious films (which the fans do as well).

The first movie kinda skates on the boundaries of comedy vs humorous drama; nobody really goes over the top. And there was quite a bit of effort into setting things up to make it fairly believable, too.

Yeah but I don’t think they got the effects of the streams right. They’re supposed to be orange and blue. Not orange and purple. It’s not that big of a deal though.

It is my sincere hope that there are zero references to that film, just so I can watch the cataclysmic melts that would follow.

Some negative backlash has already started:

F*** that Ghostbusters trailer. You don’t reward regressive fanboys – many of whom created an atmosphere of racist, mysoginist toxicity that led to a leading lady leaving this very platform – by MAKING THE VERY FILM THEY WANTED IN THE FIRST PLACE

quote:

McMahon would not be alone in his opinion. Matthew Rodriguez, the editor of The Body, stated:

lmao of course Ghostbusters: Afterlife is about family and lineage and legacy and all these other fricking white patriarchal American values. It’s literally a reaction to the idea of 4 women, including one Black woman. The franchise must assert its “REAL” predecessor.

He added, “sorry, not predecessor, I mean successor.”

WIRED staff producer Adam Lance Garcia would note that he’s intrigued by the first trailer, but would have to justify that opinion by writing:

“This, of course, is not to discount Ghostbusters (2016), a film that was unfairly attacked by the worst kind of humans, (most of whom were men, because men are inherently emotional and irrational and get angry when women do anything, to which I say, go f*** yourselves dudes.)”

I am going to go out on a limb and say the "everything happens for a reason" line is alluding to the fact that Egon will be coming back in ghost form.

have not been this pumped for a movie in quite a while.

I must have watched the trailer five times yesterday. Can't think of any recent trailer that got me wanting to see a movie this bad.

So this person fully acknowledges that the 2016 film was made with an agenda and only looking to please/appease certain segments of the population, rather than as an effort at a good movie that would be accepted as a "spiritual successor"?

Egon is the easy answer to the grandfather and is an easy way to pay homage to the late Harold.

This was confirmed on some tv spot I saw yesterday. Maybe on ET. They specifically called the girl Egon's granddaughter.

I often wonder how people like this find the strength to wake up every morning. They have to be totally miserable.

I know quite a few black people who would punch you in the face for saying that "family and lineage and legacy" are just white American values.
