As I posted awhile back, you can't trust RT for anything anymore. It seems like anti-public opinion.
Amy Schumer's Trainwreck is 85% (a movie already forgotten)
Tommy Boy is 44% (one of the seminal comedies of a generation)

Someone had to have paid off the RT critics... Should be 10%

RT usually isn't a good metric for comedies in my opinion

Honestly, not a big fan of Tommy Boy. I mean, I'll watch it if there's nothing else on, but Tommy Boy and Black Sheep really do nothing for me.
On an unrelated note, I hate Melissa McCarthy in everything she is in, and pretty much refuse to watch any movie she plays a prominent role in.

A movie that made $140 million just a year ago forgotten?
Tommy Boy only made $32.7 million when it came out (adjusted for inflation $51.6 million) and the biggest reasons people remember it as fondly as they do are (A) Comedy Central played it a billion times and (B) Chris Farley died young.
Trainwreck has only just come to HBO. Eventually it'll end up on Comedy Central, TNT, or FX and will be played just as much as Tommy Boy and a whole new generation of people will grow up watching it the exact same way you did w/Tommy Boy when you were young.

Yea, I thought Trainwreck was pretty good. Way better than I expected
But of course it will be bashed on here because Amy Schumer

Taking that into account gives us a little more perspective on the situation; it proves that the 1,865 men on IMDb are a minority — a very, very vocal minority, but a minority nonetheless. And if writing about this movie for the past year has taught me anything, it’s that you can’t reason with that particular group,

Totally agree.
Seven Samurai (a movie most never even heard of) is at 100%
Death Wish 3 (one of the seminal Charles Bronson films of 1985) is at 6%

Full disclosure, I wanted this movie to be good, until I heard it was a reboot.
A sequel, I could dig. But a reboot just to say "yeah, but with girls"?
Come on, bruh.
And if you are going to make a statement for feminism and equality, why wasn't the cast mixed-gendered?

Exactly. RT has this one way wrong....
It should be somewhere close to 110%. Maybe 120%.

It's a comedy movie. "Feminism" is possibly the biggest buzzkill of them all. It's not a good formula for success.

So wait. This movie is 75% while Warcraft and the new X-men both get garbage reviews?
Posted on 7/12/16 at 9:59 am to Fewer Kilometers
Why is rotten tomatoes always used as the grading metric on movie threads like this? Why isn't IMBD used? RT has 100+ movies that have ratings of 98-100%. Most of those movies are mostly unknown. The Godfather I & II and Shankshank Redemption among many other famous and very well liked movies aren't in their top 100.

I use Metacritic. I've found its not binary and leads to a much more accurate score than RT.

3.7/10 on IMDB, up from 3.5.

I like metacritic because it doesn't have an arbitrary plus/minus score for each review. It allows for a bit more nuance. Also, if reviews are generally positive, but tepid, you can have a huge RT score and run of the mill meta score, which seems more accurate for the critical consensus.
IMDB's ratings are total crap. There's a lot of reasons for it, particularly its selection bias titling heavily towards young men, but its also vulnerable to the sort of vote rigging campaigns we see right now. Reddit is trying to crash the score, leading to the low rankings despite, ya know, most of those voters having not seen the film (usually though, its the opposite, as the site wildly overrates new releases due to a halo effect).
