Ghostbusters’ Haters Are Spamming IMDb With Low Ratings

And no mention of the hundreds of 10 ratings?

I think that we can all agree that regardless of the movie's rating on IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes; that it's absolute trash.

It's already in theaters in Britain.

IMDB user claiming proof that Sony is bribing reviewers, though he's been flaming the board for days, so take it with a grain of salt.

Now, let's look at Ghostbusters as of 1:20 pm on 7/11/16...

This guy praises the movie like crazy and then promptly gives it just 3 out of 5 stars.

And it’s inspiring to see them use their scientific brilliance to defeat a crowd of supernatural villains. Most of us know how contentious it was when Sony announced that its new Ghostbusters would be female - hence its current low IMDB rating - but it’s not until you see the climactic battle that you appreciate just how genuinely radical the casting was. There has simply never been a scene like it in a Hollywood blockbuster before. Ghostbusters, then, is an important film. It is daringly progressive, and it is a landmark in mainstream entertainment. It’s just a shame that it isn’t a bit funnier.

It’s a goofy and efficient franchise-starter that could do with more jokes, but the new Ghostbusters is daringly progressive, writes Nicholas Barber.

With all that is going on in the country right now, I'm glad that these conspiracy pinheads are focusing on Ghostbusters and not with things that matter.

It only takes a modest observation and common sense to see what's going on here.

Does no one remember Sharon Stone in the Quick and the Dead?

What, that this appears to be a competently made mediocrity that would have been quickly forgotten like most mediocre remakes had not a devoted group of fans spent the past year obsessively following every little thing about this movie and then loudly denouncing it? So their very approbation of the film is, ironically, the thing that will cause it to be remembered instead of getting flushed down the memory hole like the Point Break reboot which somehow made over $100 million?

Face it, this movie is now destined to be a cultural moment of some sort and it's entirely made by the people who hate the movie the most, and wish it would disappear. If y'all had just STFU and ignored this thing, it would have most likely slinked in and out of the theaters, only to be recalled as a trivia answer. But no, your obsession with this film has made it impossible to ignore and likely difficult to forget. Thanks.

I can't wait for this film to go away and people to shut up about it. I'm already sick of it and I haven't even seen it yet.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a bigger gap between the top critics and the others. It's around 48 percent with top critics and 89 with the rest of them.

Did you really expect people to just ignore this one? A lot of us hate on all of the recent remakes, but the patronizing, political nature of this one is especially annoying. It was inevitable.

Looking forward to the Ghostbusters movie that will follow this one.

I'm sure that when it's pointed out that Dr. Raymond Stantz Jr's hair is parted on the wrong side, all hell will break loose.

Which is odd because wiig wrote and starred in a huge summer comedy with an all female cast fatty doo was the lead in a successful action comedy...summer release.

Makes this whole thing fricking odd. Men go to the movies more than women, and they'll go see a movie of any kind with a female lead if it's good. This movie looks awful and looks like a statement about something that doesn't exist, but mostly...it looks awful

I went back a few papges and didn't see Richard Roeper's review:
quote:

For months, controversy has swirled around the new “Ghostbusters” movie. The trailer was reportedly the most hated in YouTube history, for what that’s worth (or not worth), which led to some pundits saying some of that hate was rooted in sexism.

quote:

I was horrified by what was transpiring onscreen.

quote:

“Ghostbusters” is one of the worst movies of the year for multiple other reasons, including:
Bad acting.

Uninspired directing, editing, cinematography and music.

Cheesy special effects.

A forgettable villain.

A terrible script.

quote:

Some things are better left alone.

‘GHOSTBUSTERS’

Ignoring it would have done wonders. It doesn't look good but backlash seems to be the only thing propping the stupid thing up.

I get it. People went crazy about iconic sequels/remakes or whatever you want to call Star Wars or Superman or Spiderman type films - but the fact that it was made to make a statement about female empowerment (and perhaps male denigration) makes its apologists more determined. Once you recognize that, the thing to do is take a deep breath and step away from the discussion.

I agree, but it's not as though it would have been possible for this to be ignored.

In this day and age of publicity at all costs, I wouldn't be surprised if this was their whole strategy all along.

Pretty smart if they took a look at the unfinished product and they needed to charge their approach on the fly. Clever people use social media for their own purposes.

I'm reminded of the media/social campaigns associated with the Tucker Carlson books. Those guys figured out how to mobilize protests as free publicity for the book and profited as a result.
