Luckily, there's some good, if vague, news on that front: Author George R.R. Martin stated during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight that his writing has "been going very well lately."

As the author has stated many times before, he's given up on trying to guess exactly when he'll be done writing, as fans tend to lash out when he provides dates that then come and go without a new release. "It'll be done when it's done," Martin characteristically told ET on the red carpet for the show's Season 8 premiere. Then he added: "It's been going very well lately, so knock wood."

It's been done and he's just waiting to see reactions to the last season of the TV series so he can change anything people don't like and pretend it was his "real" plan all along.

This is the same man who wanted to release Winds of Winter before season six, and when it was clear it could yet be done, he said he has months of writing left.

“Months”

Four years ago.

Oh yeah, he feels good now huh?

About winds of winter or another cash in companion book series?

sounds like he finished a page only another 250-300 left to go before he sends it to print.

**I am accounting for the years already spent for the missing pages "assuming" there was some productive time spent on this book...at some point.

He’ll be releasing his 5000 page book on the historical lineage of Hot pie in the fall
