lol at all the pearl clutchers who freaked out b/c of Lefou being gay for Gaston even though it was barely even noticeable.

Beast would never survive in this climate.

Gaston was that creepy guy at the gym that keeps following you around when you just want to get a little bit of time on the treadmill.
Maybe Belle is that girl that is such a narcissist that she thinks every guy who happens on her vicinity is desperate for her...

The Beast was a mega-douche with clear anger issues from being a monster since he was like 11 years old (holy punishment doesnt fit the crime batman) - but he slowly becomes nice to Belle and starts catering to HER wants. ex: the library scene.
OTOH Gaston throws her favorite book in the mud and doesn't give a shite about what she wants.
Gaston is the high school football star that was also gorgeous but not quite good enough or smart enough to be anything more. He was on his way to being the fat old guy that talked about how things were back in the day.
Belle is a smart girl. Of course, she wants more from life! Don't blame her a single bit. She wanted to leave the small town just like almost everyone who grows up in one.

Her first song is about how she thinks she is better than everyone else in the town
No it’s not. She’s bored. The people are simple and do simple things and she just wants to do something new and explore the world. Keep in mind she is a bookworm from the largest city in France and her father is a tinkerer. Imagine going from NYC/LA to some random small town in Wyoming as a teenage girl with no modern tech and your only source of entertainment is books about adventures around the world while your pops is always making new and interesting things on a daily basis. That’s essentially where we find Belle.
Belle didn’t give a damn about Beast’s wealth. Hell he had no real wealth just a massive old castle in ruins. The biggest gesture he made for her was the library. She didn’t have to read the same 10 stories over and over again anymore.

The Beast was obviously abusing his servants before Belle arrived as well
Gaston had a BETTER start and was never given a fair shake
Gaston had everything and still was a rapey, conceited a-hole.
The Beast had nothing because it was taken away in a curse. But he proved he could change.
Nothing showed that Gaston would ever be any different than a conceited a-hole who thought he deserved anything he wanted.

I think that’s only true in the live action version. I don’t think there’s anything to indicate that Belle is not originally from the village in the original film.

Gaston sees her as a prize to be won. She is nothing more to him than elusive prey and a trophy. He had no desire to love her, and he'd be at the bar banging every other chick in town the night after their honeymoon when she'd be another animal head mounted to the wall. He only went to "save" her out of his own pride.
She had no interest in his physical appearance or manly reputation, as he was a shallow piece of shite with nothing to offer in terms of an emotional relationship.
She hated the beast at first. She despised him until she learned what had made him that way and saw that the beast's former vanity had been overcome by the humility of his curse. She wasn't shallow and fell in love with the man within.
It was just her good luck another rich good looking dude revealed himself at the end.
But, maybe she is just a bit into beastality and monster dicks.

to the originality of the post. It made me chuckle.

I think Gaston is a very entertaining character and villain, but he's still quite the piece of shite.
For me that is kind of what makes him the best Disney villain. He has no magic powers or grand army. He has no grand ambitions of taking over the world or wiping out a species or race of people. He's just a relatively normal baw who is an incredibly horrible person. He's the worst of what is inside of us.
Evil doers like Maleficient or the Wickid Witch of the West can have alternate view stories written about them to tell another side of the tale, but there is no redemption for Gaston. There is no good side to who he is or what he is doing.

The real villain in this whole thing is the Enchantress. Going around disguised as an old haggard woman scaring the shite out of little kids when they're home alone, then punishing them by transforming them into some kind of fox-footed buffalo bear for not letting strangers into the house.

Even worse the poor servants who didn’t do shite get turned into furniture and other objects.
Belle was a bitch though, people keep claiming she is smart because she read books. Nah, she was equivalent to someone that watches non stop TV today. Once she got to learn that she could do nothing but sit on her arse and read books all day in a fancy house, she was ok with being a prisoner. She wasn’t seeking new adventures, she wasn’t pulling a Jasmine and hoping on a carpet for new distant lands, she was sitting on her arse in a big fancy house reading books all day. Probably got fat as frick in a year or two after the wedding.
