I'm starting to wonder if a lot of the people watching the show are doing so in a distracted manner that causes them to miss out on things that are blatantly being shown. I wonder how many who have all these answered questions are also on their computer or phone while they are watching?

Explained in plain English by the previous 3ER while they were in the cave

It's almost all that Dany cares about.

I'm interested to see if she still cares as much about who is the rightful heir now that she knows it's not her.

I'm trusting we learn more about the Night King and his origins posthumously from Bran. That needs to happen.

I mean, we know the CotF created him in order to combat the humans and their attacks on the CotF and the destruction of the weirwoods. wasn't that a vision of Bran's when he was under the tree?

but did the NK really need to the be one to kill him? Sure you want him dead to erase all recorded history....I mean one would think wiping out all of humanity would naturally do that.

still worth exposing yourself to kill a kid in a wheelchair when he likely would have died along with everyone else if you wait a few more minutes?

Sam told you last episode.

The NK is the death of man. The 3ER is the memory of man.

The NK wants to kill all man and make sure no ones remembers them.

He is the final death.

And you just accept this logic as valid enough and continue on your merry way? Just because they gave you an explanation as to why something is happening, doesn't mean it is satisfying or logical.

I know they lived there, were they created out of the ground? Maybe I need a refresher on that

Where did the first men come from? The ground?

Why do we need to know exactly how they were created? They were the first inhabitants of Westeros is all we really need to know.

Gendry isn’t really a factor

He’s a bastard, he’s has no army. At this point lineage has nothing to do with who’s gonna be on the throne.

Which is why I would have been fine with him dying. Just so they dont do any of that.

But also, if he and Arya can have a baby im good with that too.

Yeah I remember now. Ive listened to so many people bitch about the NK and 3ER storyline at this point im at a loss for what exactly they are complaining about. I get why hes coming for him but how exactly does the NK know who the 3ER is?

The biggest question most people want answered is why the NK is coming after the 3ER.

I mean, I get it, but this was explained in almost wall-breaking fashion in S8E2.

In a nutshell:

A magic "Terminator" following his programming to wipe men off of Westeros. He also wants the memory of their very existence wiped out, as well as insurance for victory by neutralizing a huge advantage for man.

Bran.

PS - this info is 100% from the show, NOTHING about this in existing text.

What exactly is the mystery?

Can't focus on the details baw! Gotta post in the official thread on TD!

Speaking of which, shouldn't this thread title be changed to Game of Thrones S8 E3 "The Long Night." Official Thread ?

This is what I'm not getting as well.

I think there was more to it than killing him. I think he wanted Bran's vision ability and thought he could take it somehow.

Or maybe he wanted to turn Bran himself to control him. I don't know.

Again, I liked the episode. Bring on Cersei and her mercenary army.

Maybe all you want to know. I'd like to know more? Is that ok?

What?

You can not like the explanation, but that isn't what you asked.

You acted like they didn't give you an explanation.

They clearly did.

Again.

Already explained in previous season.

The 3ER was protected by magic. When Bran warged into the raven and saw the NK, and the NK touched Bran, it broke the magic.

That is when Bran and Meera and Hodor left the cave and we got the "Hold the door" moment.

Yeah but even something as simple as who he was would have been cool. I think most people assumed he was a Stark but we’re not sure.

Also, Jon had faced the Night King three times and Jon was never killed. The NK just avoids him.

What makes you think she goes mad? Because she has a negative reaction to Jon say he's the true heir and his back up is his brother and his best friend?

Plus all this would be solved with a marriage anyway
