Edmure and his son would have the claim to Riverrun. With all of the Frey male heirs dead now wouldn't they have the claim to The Twins as well?
They're alive but they're prisoners of the Lannisters right now.

I thought the Freys were bannermen for the Tullys so I think that could be correct.

I completely forgot that no one has bothered to kill Edmure. Poor guy

Not to highjack this thread, and sorry if already posted, but this is what Maester Martin has reduced us to:
LINK
quote:
The final piece of hopeful evidence comes in the form of a recent blog post from Martin himself. Two days ago, Martin started one of his infamous LiveJournal entries with the following line: “I’ve been working so much of late that I have fallen way behind in my reading (sob) and my filmgoing.” The location was his home in Santa Fe, and the mood on the post? “Pleased.” In the words of Twitter and Redditor BryndenBFish, who has made a name for himself tracking the progress of Martin’s novels: “Guys, dare I ask it, but is the long night almost over?”
quote:
Then something a little strange happened. In his latest blog entry, published Wednesday, Martin included just one line of text above an illustration of Valyria, the ancient city of ASOIAF lore that succumbed to a mysterious and cataclysmic “doom.”
Martin wrote: Alas, alas, that great city Valyria, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
His “mood” below the entry was listed as “enigmatic,” which is worth noting—if anything, Martin has taken pains to avoid mystery in his recent blogging career, since any vague pronouncement is in danger of being treated as a Winds of Winter hint by his rabid fans. To purposefully post something obscure like this, Martin—my opinion only—must be planning something big. Notably, the post came with a single tag: “song of ice and fire.” He also disabled comments. It didn’t take long for the ASOIAF subreddit to begin wondering if this was tantamount to an announcement of a publication date.
quote:
In the analysis that followed, it was discovered that Martin’s quote about Valyria was adapted from a biblical quote about ancient Babylon:
Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
Now, let’s get to the theory: That passage comes from the Book of Revelation, Chapter 18, Verse 10. In shorter notation, that’s Revelation 18:10.
Martin also uses the specific language from the King James version of the bible, and the King James in question was, of course, an English monarch. So: Revelation 18:10.
My theory is ludicrously simple, and I’m a little shocked that nobody (as far as I can tell) has scooped me in the past three days: Martin’s “revelation” is that The Winds of Winter will be published on 18/10, which is British notation for Oct. 18.
In the past, Martin has referenced the fact that his publishers could get his book out within three months if they were in a rush. As it happens, Oct. 18 is just over three months from the present, and if Martin had previously turned in his manuscript, it makes sense that a longer, more usual publication schedule was in place.

looking at that preview for ep 2, you can definitely tell Ellaria is at the war board with Dany, Yara, Theon, Varys, etc. So it would be dumb for Euron to go to Dorne when everybody he is looking for is already at dragonstone. Jaimie already told Cersei exactly where to look.

I don't give a frick about GRRM, he can go get fricked. Until he gets off his fat arse and plants his fat arse in front of a typewriter and finishes that goddamn book, he can eat shite for all I care.

18:10
18+10=28
The dragon has 3 heads.
The Falcons blew a 28-3 lead.

Remind me what LF's reasoning was to Sansa in order to convince her this was what she needed to do. I mean, LF had made it clear to Sansa that he wanted her, then he convinced her to go marry Bolton.

I would hate that. It's way too cheesy fan service that really makes no sense. I know in the books he's pretty much done being mentioned after he got his castle.

Who do we think gets to kill zombie mountain? Hound?
I have pretty much forgotten about Gendry, will he account for anything this season?

What happens if Melisandre and Gendry meet up?
Posted on 7/17/17 at 5:51 pm to highpockets
I have a feeling we'll see Gendry in the north. Possibly near and beyond the wall.

Yeah, I know they claimed Riverrun for the crown but Edmure and his son are still the rightful heirs. Once Cersei goes down I think their house will be restored.
Speaking of Edmure, did they say what they were going to do with him? I wonder if he's still at Riverrun or if they put him back in the dungeons at the Twins? I'd be surprised if Arya spent that time there posing as the serving girl and didn't hear someone boasting about him being held.

I'm betting Littlefinger or Varys has somehow found Gendry and are just waiting to pull that rabbit out of the hat. I guess LF could use him to promote a true heir to the 7 kingdoms that Sansa could marry, but I would think Sansa knows by now that her first husband is still alive. It would be nice if she goes with Jon to Dragonstone to meet Dany so she can apologize to Tyrion for how shitty she treated him. BUT the story plays better for LF if she stays behind to be "in charge" while Jon is out of town. I'm still not sure how LF sits on the throne with no legitimate claim. He only has the knights of the vale because Robin gave him permission.

I just can't get over the giant castle in an awesome strategic position being completely vacant
It just seems obvious to me that any one defending the castle is going to die as soon as Dany arrives.
You're low and men and presumably resources. You would need a lot of both to force Dany to lay siege to Dragonstone for any meaningful period of time, and I have to think having Dragons significantly reduces that time. And all that is assuming the people she leaves there don't simply kneel to Dany the second she arrives.

I don't see the Hound and Mountain meeting up anytime soon and I think the mountain goes down when Kings Landing goes down. The hound is headed north to the wall. Maybe Jamie takes out the Mountain after Cersei goes completely insane.

Somebody would somehow have to legitimize him as a son of Robert. Tyrion, Varys, and Littlefinger all know who he is and could validate him. I speculate Gendry joining Dany's ranks.

Walder Frey told Jamie that Edmure was back in his cells........

I may be confusing the books and the show, but I'm fairly certain they were sending him to be held as an "honored guest" at Casterly Rock and his newborn son would be raised in Kings Landing (as opposed to being returned to him with a trebuchet. - still pissed they didn't use that line in the show).
quote:
"You've seen our numbers, Edmure. You've seen the ladders, the towers, the trebuchets, the rams. If I speak the command, my coz will bridge your moat and break your gate. Hundreds will die, most of them your own. Your former bannermen will make up the first wave of attackers, so you'll start your day by killing the fathers and brothers of men who died for you at the Twins. The second wave will be Freys, I have no lack of those. My westermen will follow when your archers are short of arrows and your knights so weary they can hardly lift their blades. When the castle falls, all those inside will be put to the sword. Your herds will be butchered, your godswood will be felled, your keeps and towers will burn. I'll pull your walls down, and divert the Tumblestone over the ruins. By the time I'm done no man will ever know that a castle once stood here." Jaime got to his feet. "Your wife may whelp before that. You'll want your child, I expect. I'll send him to you when he's born. With a trebuchet."
