We are so used to seeing Lannisters and the like act like badasses, and some of them are, but I like seeing them have some fear, kinda like when Robb had his direwolf in front of Jaime and he was visibly frightened. Love that shite.

In the promo for episode 7 you can kind've see an "oh shite" look on Jaime's face when he is speaking with the Blackfish.

I agree with this and also I still think there is a lot behind the faith militant

Yeah but thats also because thats how we view our society. You rarely see powerful religious people that are genuine in our world.
But i agree that something seems off about this guy. In the GoT universe we havent seen anyone turn down wealth and power and thats supposed to be what the high septon did. Although it was never mentioned what house he belongs too.

There are only going to be ~14 more episodes in the entire series

I find this hard to believe. For the white walkers to actually be a threat the wall has to come down.

I see that happening in the very last scene of the season 6 finale as a cliffhanger.

I would be on board with this if the series had mentioned the Horn of Winter.
Mance was supposed to bring it South and when that didnt happen i thought they may have taken it out.
They havent mentioned any horns.
During the Kingsmoot,Euron didnt have or speak about Dragonbinder.

I dunno. The "Big One" is usually the second to last episode.

I am thinking this will be the Winterfell battle this season. Unless everyone in here already knows it is episode 8 or something.

Also I read online that episode 9 will be called "The Battle of the Bastards." Does anyone know if that is true? If so, that name is fricking lame.

I think the point of including the "Burn them all" vision was simply to mark the belated beginning of Jaime's redemption arc...I think its being overthought by some of us.

You must THINK in HODOR...

People who say this are stupid. There is an entire ocean between insanity and genius.

This will be my only reply to your reply given I don't want to distract from the purpose of this thread. Here is a link to the source of the saying/quote, Oscar Levant: LINK
"Levant was open about his neuroses and hypochondria. The 1920s and 1930s wit Alexander Woollcott, a member of the Algonquin Round Table, once said of him: "There isn't anything the matter with Levant that a few miracles wouldn't cure."[10] Despite his afflictions, Levant was considered a multifaceted genius by some. He himself wisecracked "There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line."

And here is a study published in 2010 by a Swedish research team that lends credence to the notion of the mad genius: LINK An obvious example was Adolf Hitler who was insane by any standard but who was also a genius at motivating the German people. Visionaries/prophets are often considered crazy during their lifetime but vindicated as geniuses after death. As C.S. Lewis cited regarding Jesus Christ in "Mere Christianity": Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. So if you are not a believer, then clearly Christ must have been a madman who professed to be the Son of God yet he founded the most prolific religion the world has ever seen.

Bottom line: like many things, genius and insanity are a matter of perception and context and the 2 can and have overlapped by many definitions.

Having said all this, I really don't see that the concept applies to Aerys. Even if he was having visions of the white walker/wight invasion, he in no way conveyed a coherent understanding to his people which falls well short of genius.

K.

No genuis has ever been insane. There personalities may have been perculiar but no one considered a genius has been diagnosed as insane.

Law defines insanity as a mental illness of such a severe nature that a person cannot distinguish fantasy from reality, cannot conduct her/his affairs due to psychosis, or is subject to uncontrollable impulsive behavior.

Adolf Hitler was in no way a genuis. He was a great orator but was not a genius. He took over German govt by force and then lied to German people. Thats not genius.its manipulation.

Only if youre counting regular mental disorders as insanity.

Anyway it doesnt matter.
Agree to disagree.
