So you enjoyed last nights episode.
I will say it again, the wall is the story. Like it or not, it was a big part of the story, and will be moving forward. Sorry you didn't see any tits.

I just disagree with this. While the wall is important, and may become more important the closer we get to the WWs invading, the creators of GoT have done a fantastic job of making "the story" about a vast number of different things, most of which are important (even if mainly for the time being). Just because the wall will eventually be more important doesn't mean it trumps all other stories they've been building on for four seasons.

But KL is better TV. That the wall is incredibly important doesn't make it interesting
Spoilers, it was based on a book series.
I disagree with you by the way. What I find interesting in the show is what lies beyond the wall and what makes westeros different from our world, not what is similar. Sure the dialogue is great and the story is filled with cool hidden messages. But the show is fantasy, not west wing.

Holy Hodor. They're 100,000 people united for the first time ever against 100 (more like 50 now) and nothing standing between them but a gate. The Watch killed what, maybe 200 wildlings last night? Mance could EASILY send 200 more men over the wall the way Jon and Ygritte's group went and just attack them from the south again with more people to finish them off. Or they could just bull rush the gate with battering rams. Or they could build something to shield them from the arrows (like the boat Stannis' men used) and carry a ram under that. I have no idea how you can honestly think the giant fricking army one mile from them is not a threat.

I don't think you'd be making this point if last weeks episode was 50 minutes of the Moutain vs the Viper fighting.

I'm not hating on the episode. I'm disagreeing with the notion that it's the "best episode in the series" whenever the battle of Blackwater had A. Thousands of deaths. B. Surprise ending. C. New players joining the fray. D. A clear winner. The battle for Blackwater bay was a proper battle. Not a test. I don't need it explained to me that they left out awesome fight sequences for budget reasons whenever they give me damned near 19 minutes of Fat Sam running around becoming a man or kissing his girl or holding his dying buddy, or telling a kid to pick up a weapon.
I'm gonna post this again. This damned poster gave me unrealistic expectations for this episode

Has anyone actually said this though?

Right, but now I'm watching a television show, and as a willing non-reader I'm enjoying it as a television show and not an adaptation or book series.
I don't really care what what "works" in the books because I tried them and didn't enjoy them.

when no one was expecting them, it takes a day to climb the wall, someone will see them and attack
all they have to do it blow the tunnel....they won't be able to get over the wall without being picked off.

If last week was solely MvV, I'd absolutely be saying the same thing.
Keep in mind that I enjoyed last night's episode and thought it was pretty good. Just thought it was the weakest of the series.

This ominous "bigger fight" isn't populated by the same rich and intriguing characters that KL and now the Eyrie are.
:kige:
I look at GoT as a political drama taking place in some medieval fantasy world. Last night was akin to an action movie.

shite, yeah..that's the first I've seen of that poster, and the episode definitely doesn't live up to that poster. Not even close actually.

Ya it's been suggested by more than one poster.

what? you weren't epically epicified by that epictastic episode?

I feel like you aren't really in touch with my feelings. And also that you haven't read the whole thread.

It was just one episode, and I believe they borrowed time from this one to put into next one.
What I am saying is that I trust the writers devoted time to this for a reason. By doing so, I think jon will rise as a crucial character. I mean this show has gone 4 seasons and most of what has happened are people dying plotting for the throne. There are killer ghost people coming with a hellstorm of a winter. This has always been the plan. The story in kings landing cannot go on forever due to external factors.
As I am writing this, I realize how genious it is to write all of the politics into the story, as it distracts the viewers as much as the characters.

The tagline for the entire show is 'Winter is Coming.' Prepare for disappointment.
if the majority of the show was like last night then i would have stopped watching long ago- or probably never gotten past the 1st episode actually.
i just hope next week is amazing, i expected a lot last night being it was the penultimate epi which is usually fantastic. hopefully, they are just teasing us for an epic finale.

I actually did once I finished the episode last night.
