What was the story of the drunk guy again? His family had honor and then lost it how?

He was the knight that showed up for a match drunk in S2. Joffrey got pissed and was going to pretty much drown him in wine before Sansa asked him to stop.

Also, the name of the episode is "The Lion and the Rose". The lions watched their king drowning in his own bodily fluids. The roses watched as the king they just married died. The more I think, the more I think the Tyrells were involved.

Hello everyone, just dropping by to spread some knowledge that might take away some confusion. If I'm not wanted here after what I say I'll leave.
Law of succession-in Westeros the next male in line always takes the crown. Even if the marriage was consummated before he died Tommen would still become King and Margaery would once again be Lady Margaery. The notable exception to this rule is Dorne, who lets females born before males rule.
Dontos- Ser Dontos was to ride for Joffrey in a tournament celebrating his 13th "nameday." When Dontos showed up so drunk he couldn't sit on his horse, Joffrey takes this as an insult and orders him put to death by being drowned in wine. Sansa's pleading saved his life and Joffrey made him his fool.

Fitting. Joffrey was going to kill him with wine, so why not return the favor.

Going to leave this right here:
Oberyn Martell
He hates the Lannisters. What a perfect set up. Kill the king Lannister, have another Lannister blamed for it.
Win win.

/concur with this. Next to Joffery she and Ramsay are my most hated characters.

Definitely don't think Margaery did it either. She really wants to be queen, which she can't be if the king is dead.

Just finished.
The wife and I spent 3 minutes trying to get our jaws off of the floor.
You truly have no idea what is coming in this show and I love it.
Joffrey killed in ep 2 out of the blue?
Still in shock.

Worth saying, but I don't think that's a book spoiler. Again, the succession goes through the bloodline. Margery to my knowledge has no blood in Joffrey's line and if she does, it's not closer than Tommen has. Of course, this is all a moot point because none of the Lannisters has blood in the line of succession. Remember, that little nugget of information is precisely what drives Stannis' claim to the throne. He knows that Robert had no trueborn children, just the bastards, meaning that Joffrey has no Baratheon blood. By blood, Stannis knows that he is next in line after Robert died, then Renly. With Renly gone, he knows the only people left in the Baratheon bloodline are him and his daughter as long as he manages to keep breathing.
Obviously, this won't stop people from playing the game of thrones and trying to wrest control, bloodlines be damned, and that's what makes this show so much fun.

Yep. I don't have the books, but I've read a lot of stuff on the (spoiler-free) wiki that gives background info and history.
