"the purple wedding"

Nah. The fool definitely knew something was up because he doubled back in the confusion as Joffrey was leaking from every orifice to tell Sansa she had to leave right away to live. If she was in on it, he wouldn't have had to go and rescue her. Whoever killed Joffrey had to have some allegiance to the Starks or at least have compassion for Sansa to go and get her away from King's Landing and ensure she didn't get whacked in the shitstorm that's sure to ensue.
I'm thinking Sansa and the fool were both in on it. Tyrion had nothing to do with it. It wasn't necessarily planned, though it could've been, but I think she saw the opportune moment and slipped a drop of poison or pill in the cup. Tyrion never tilted the cup after she handed it to him so whatever was put there could've easily stayed. Joffrey glanced at it, but it could've easily gone unnoticed. He just said his cup needed refilling. When he started choking, or dying, she didn't flee the scene initially 'cause maybe she wanted to watch him suffer a lil bit. Plus she's still young and naive, she may have thought she could sit and watch while no one would suspect her, until the fool knocked some sense into her, urging her to bail, snapping her out of her gaze.

Some guts from a bird wouldn't cause that kind of reaction

so much foreshadowing in this episode. They had the "killing the man at his own wedding" line, the dead birds in the cake, etc. Pretty epic.

I think Gma poisoned the wine somehow. but could be the pie. Was watching with the GF who has read all the books and when she gave tyrion that little smirk I think I made a noise like OMG wtf is gonna happen. that was nuts

Alright fine, hodors only. I was just trying to make the show a little more enjoyable for you by giving some background info.

From season 1
When Ned suggests that Jon Arryn could have been poisoned, the Grand Maester rebuffs him, asking who would do such a thing. Ned replies that he has heard poison is a woman’s weapon. Pycelle replies that poison is the preferred weapon of women, cravens, and eunuchs.

Grandma's reaction was weird if she was in on it, unless it was for show. She's screaming at everyone to help Joffrey.

He knows that Robert had no trueborn children, just the bastards, meaning that Joffrey has no Baratheon blood
Ok but did Robert have king's blood before he took the throne? Or does taking the throne give credence to one's blood? If so, would Lannister taking the throne by force give them king's blood? Bloodlines be damn and all.

I think Tyrion's whore is a legitimate candidate

Maybe she knew nobody could save him at that point. and of course you have to sell it. The way she talked to sansa and that look she gave makes me think she had a hand or two in it.
Man I still cant believe that happened. I always thought Joffrey would be around for a long time bc of how much a dick Martin is with the good guys and to keep playing joffrey (bad guy) to win
