If any of you are planning on buying the books, might as well get all of them as a set on Amazon for much cheaper than you can get them individually.

Did that a while back. It was a good deal. Halfway through third book now.

That is my basic understanding as well. The Others/White Walkers kill you and turn you into a zombie, which is why you have to burn the bodies of your dead.
possible spoiler I guess. I'll take it out if it pisses someone off
There are other things beyond the wall. Not just white walkers / others.

I don't consider that a spoiler.
The slave girl mentioned giants in the last episode.

I'm trying to blaze through the first one now. As long as work and laser tag don't get in the way, I'll have it done by the end of the week.

It's not as bad as it sounds. I'm bringing my key employees out to play laser tag. If only I could do nothing but play laser tag...

okdokie....
so as i've been reading thru book 1 and going back and watching the episodes again. I'm starting to put things together better, but still have several questions.
few off the top of my head right now:
1) Okay, Jaime shoved Bran off the high ledge after catching Jaimee boinking his sister. Bran was supposed to die, yada yada, but didn't. Bran is now awake, alive, and seems to be okay. Why hasn't he spilled the beans yet?
2) What is the now dead king's, robert, relation to Catelyn's sister? I understand Catelyn's sister's husband, Ned, and Robert all fought together in the war and such, but is there any relation?
3) Wildings/WhiteWalkers/The Others - wildings are the random bands of theifs, criminals, peasants living beyond the wall. But WhiteWalker and The Others are the same people correct?
4)Robert has some kind of nickname that he called himself when speaking to Ned regarding the Targareans. What is it again? And what is it reference to?

I am strictly going to talk in terms of the series with some very light information from the books. There is another discussion for readers of the books.
He presumably does not remember what happened.
None. Robert and Ned were both mentored by Jon Arryn, the former Hand of the King who died, who was also married to Lysa, Catelyn's sister. Other than that, they have no relationship whatsoever that is made aware on the TV show.
Yes, Wildlings are the people that live beyond the Wall. As for WhiteWalkers and The Others, its not a question that can be answered within the confines of the show. Might want to take this discussion to the books thread. If you don't want to be spoiled in that thread, just wait until you've read through the books then venture there. There are MASSIVE spoilers in that that you DO NOT want to know, so tread with care.
I assume you mean The Usurper. Meaning, he usurped the throne in his rebellion from the "rightful" kings of Westeros, the Targaryens.

Wait.... they can do that? I thought they were just like Zombies only harder to kill.
I think the uncle shows up with some valuable knowledge of whats going on beyond the wall.
I don't buy the mindless zombie routine. The first episode the walkers set a definite trap for the three rangers. Also, the dead guys discovered by the direwolf have been gone for months and all of a sudden they are found within striking distance of the wall. Also, he plays dead long enough for john and Gang to walk him past the wall. Next scene the "zombie" is headed straight to kill the old bear himself. Again, I have no idea but there is more to them then mindless zombies IMO.
Also, where the hell was the second dead guy they brought back and why did he not try killing anyone?

Well the 1st one was burned in the room. I think that was the 2nd one they were burning outside the wall.

Wasn't mentioned in the show but the second one fought some of the brothers of the watch. Killed one or two I believe before they cut it up enough to subdue it.

I'm just curious, am I the only one that is kind of starting to like Theon Greyjoy in the show? Especially in this last episode? (keep in mind I have read the books..... and am currently plodding through AFFC.....)

I didn't like him on the show at first but I'm starting to like him a little more each episode.

I wish I could say more about Theon. But I can say that I always found his character's situation to be really interesting and sort of unexplored territory.

Someone was asking about Roberts connection to Ned's sister. Robert was in love with Lyanna until she died.
