i'm pretty far into Book 1 right now.

Characters and Stories i like the most are Tyrrion and Arya then Jon Snow

Least is Sansa holy frick she is a shallow stupid little bitch. "this isn't like it is in the songs!"

This week was the first week where I had passed the show and knew what would happen; while i miss being surprised i don't regret starting to read the book. If anyone is on the fence about reading the book vs watching i'd recommend buying the book ASAP; gives you a deeper understanding of what's going on and then you get to see it on screen almost immediately.

shite's about to get real BTW.

HBO loves shock and awe that's one reason they have the blowjob scene. And two based on the posts in this thread if they only hinted at it like in the book it would've gone over alot of people's head. Bc it's VERY clear in the books that they're gay and that relationship is definitely a factor in important decisions both characters make later on in the series. Also for everyone complaining about every scene that wasn't in the book...I think that's a great sign. Lord of the Rings was the greatest book to movie adaptation ever and Jackson made numerous changes but kept the heart of the story. Thats what they need to do here.

I knew they were gay or at least stongly suspected it in the first book, but I had read a lot of Martin's stuff prior to reading SoIaF so I kind of knew what to expect...

The sky cell and the dragon skulls beneath the Red Keep were both very well done. The confrontation between the Hound and the Mountain was badass as well. Ned and Jaime engaging directly wasn't in the book but I liked how Jaime took offense at the interference.

wish you had mentioned spoilers here as well and moved it down. i was still on the fence if those were actually roberts or jamies kids. now i guess its solved.

my question was regarding the "lord of flowers" and the mountain. did the lord of flowers change the mountains horse or something? There was a lot of implication he cheated in some way and the horse kept fricking up, hence mountains actions.

Knight of Flowers. And no...The Mountain is just an epic dick. Loras just beat him, straight up.

Well in the books because of the Mountain's size he always rode fierce crazy arse stallions. In the tourney, Loras rode a mare who was in heat and it made the stallion crazy and hard to control allowing Loras to unseat Gregor.

Loras rode a mare that he knew was just going into heat. Gregor's stallion smelled the mare and began to act up. Not exactly cheating but not the height of sportsmanship either.

ETA: Too slow

They mentioned the mare being in heat in the show. Although, you may have meant that they never mentioned the Mountain always rode big stallions.

Must have missed that. Loras didn't cheat, but he definitely gained an unfair advantage. He really stuck it to Gregor.

the Clegane sigil should be a gigantic penis flipping the bird. the hound and the mountain that rides have some issues.

Littlefinger tells sansa about it in the show but they don't make nearly as big a deal about it as they do in the book

I've read the books, and if I were an admin, I would start these threads over, sticky them, and have one thread for the book readers and one thread for non-book readers.

Its gotten to be too much.
