then why do people keep posting spoilers in here as well as references to the book?
Posted on 5/16/11 at 5:15 pm to Lester Earl
anyone posting spoilers has no place in this thread. References to the book, think ppl can live w/ them as long as they're not spoiling anything

except people think its innocent and it sometimes ruins things for the only show people like myself. there is a book thread use it. this is for the SHOW
Posted on 5/16/11 at 5:29 pm to BlacknGold
ppl should be able to post ab references to the book in this thread bc it goes hand in hand w/ the show. If someone wants to go off on book theories, etc, I agree this isn't the thread for it obviously. If it weren't for book readers, there'd be no info in this thread and no one posting in it.

really? so there isnt a tv show that people are watching and discussing? the only reason why this thread is active is due to book readers and not people talking about the actual show?

agreed, as long as its something relevant to current or past episode.

quote:majority is of ppl who've read the book talking ab the show. Like I said, they go hand in hand for a lot of ppl so there's bound to be some spillover.

I haven't noticed any major spoilers recently, and I'm sorry but if you consider what Shreveporter said as a spoiler than I don't know what to tell ya. If you haven't figured that out than you haven't been paying attention well at all. I have four of my friends who watch it with me who haven't read the books and they all understood within the first few episodes.

There is going to be spillover, the problem area is spoilers. I understand where they are coming from.

Oh I totally understand, I just think people have been surprisingly good about it. Of course accidental shite is gonna happen but I think it's been good so far.

most of the big spoilers have been on the book thread and not on this one. For the most part, this thread has been spoiler free.

The book readers have done a lot more good than harm in this thread.
I couldn't be more thrilled that there are lots of new people experiencing my favorite story right now, on TV or on the page.
Sometimes people get a little excited and they might say a l-i-t-t-l-e too much... but Foul and many others have done a great job policing the thread for it. I really don't see a lot in this thread that's giving away plot and character points.
Pretty much everyone posting in the thread is doing so because they like the show and want it to grow. Believe me... there's no way any of us book readers are going to give up the wild shite that happens next. NEVER. It's that good.

That's something those who haven't read re books won't understand, there hasn't really been a major spoiler in this thread, at least that I've seen.

will this season cover all of book 1 or just about half? or how much you think?
Posted on 5/16/11 at 8:34 pm to BlacknGold
Season 1 will cover book 1.
Posted on 5/16/11 at 8:44 pm to Gugich22
damn that seems like a lot. so if there are only 5 books (about to be) published, the series has to significantly slow down unless they have a set number of seasons then i guess itll be a 7 season show. a season a book. but it doesnt seem like Martin could write that fast
Posted on 5/16/11 at 8:59 pm to BlacknGold
The longer books are going to span more than one tv season.
ETA: at the pace of tv seasons, they will catch up to the author by like Book 6.
I'm watching last night's episode, and I had to turn my head on the Mountain's displeasure with his steed scene. Last night's episode was awesome. Kinda ridiculous how much I look forward to this show.

If history is an indicator, Martin won't write that fast. Our best hope is the HBO series pushing Martin to finish.

for all the naysayers who think major spoilers have been revealed....wait, and you will see that the book readers will be vindicated.
