Weird question but I’ve subscribed to Britbox and have been watching a lot on there, does anyone know of anything sort of like this on there?
Posted on 6/8/26 at 6:16 pm to CP3forMVP
I watch a lot of Britbox & for supernatural, Midwinter of the Spirit & Beimg Human come to mind. Also try Hinterland. Its a dark police procedural.

Yes. And earlier in S2, when Victor and Tabitha are deep in the tunnels (after she dug the basement hole and fell through), she says “where is that water coming from?”

Could tossing the teeth in the lake bring back those dead for an army to fight who/whatever the MiY answers to?

Probably my vote for most disappointing season so far. Was great the first few then began to fall off. Season four is t the time to slowly play everything out. All that said I’m too invested now to stop and hope we get more answers. One thing that really bothers me is earlier seasons at the lake some creature was lumbering around that I assume we think was the dolls? But then the dolls broke into the hurt, whereas that creature couldn’t. Would love to learn more about that and the tower with the prisoner saying the creatures were just the tip of the spear. After that we’ve gotten the MiY, doll monsters and nightmares coming to life. What else?

I’ll catch up on the thread tomorrow. But I’ve been out of town and just watched this week’s episode tonight and wanted to get my thoughts down while they were fresh in my head.
In the “previously on” clips, Sophia to Henry: maybe it’s all just a dream. Isn’t that what Abby thought too?
Tabitha tells her kids shes been in the Town “many, many times before” and that the last time she was Miranda.
Boyd tells Victor and Henry the same thing.
Caught some of the opening credits and there seems to be a lot of Easter egg things. I’m too lazy to comb through them but here are lots of (what I assume to be) Victor’s drawings.
And they’re actually telling everyone now. That’s great. And Boyd brings up the “knowledge comes at a cost” thing and says they may be close. That’s what I said a few weeks ago. And I think he’s right.
Random black chick in colony house gets lines. So I assume she’ll die tonight.
Another Boyd Parkinson’s reference (from Jade) finally. And another one from Kristi. ETA: and then another one before they execute their plan. I guess that subplot is fully back on the table again.
Julie’s hair looks even more stupid.
MiY was there in “late 70s when Victor was a kid.”
Marielle’s mom talking about “whenever people die they just go somewhere else. Didn’t believe in heaven or hell and death was a transition to another place we can’t see from here.” No chance they make this Town some type of purgatory right?
Henry has a vision he’s hooked to a monitor and IV. ??
MiY car. Rusty spare in the trunk. Bag of teeth in the glovebox.
Oh shite. Victor making the connection that Tabitha showed up with a boy and a girl just like Miranda did. And he’s scared everyone will be killed again and everyone but Ethan is gonna die. I didn’t even think about that.
Kenny was an administrator in youth sports before he came to the Town.
Sophia steals an egg. Okay.
Julie thinks this Town is a “random cruelty.” I like that term and that angle too honestly. Elgin thinks it’s part of God’s plan. And he says the Town throws so many lies at you that you don’t believe the truth when it’s staring you in the face. Interesting.
So now Henry is having visions that it’s “all a dream” like Sophia said, and he’s actually semi unconscious in a hospital room. I assume this is bullshite and that her drops of blood are triggering this.
So Sophia’s egg has yolk and blood in it and she speaks a spell (?) into it and crushes it into his chest. “It’s time to play.” Is she creating another giant doll to wreak havoc on shite?
No way Kenny dies here, right?
Kenny stabbing and then standing there like a goon instead of running away like Boyd told him FIFTEEN frickING SECONDS AGO. Idiot. I like that the monsters are just fricking with him though about the totem staff working. Sets up the theory someone had about talismans not even really working and them just pretending. Also them intentionally blocking Kenny’s exits and the doors makes me go back to them knowing more than they let on and it’s all one big show.
So is Fatima’s golem thing about to do work? *
I’m glad Smiley is back. He’s pretty terrifying looking.
Kenny forgot to close the top door. Hmmm.
And Sophia brings Roger back…just for him to rip his face back off and get immediately stabbed after entering the house?
Also how did he get inside the house…did he break through a talisman? Weird.
This was a good episode. It was nice to see them formulate and execute an actual plan. Even if it didn’t really work.
* guess not.

It seems the doll-things aren't stopped by the talismans, but can be killed by the totems. The night people can be stopped by the talismans and killed by that freaky blood-thing Boyd had last season, but the totems have zero impact on them.
Maybe this means that for every terror/evil which is created, there is some sort of defense (if the townsfolks can find it and discern it in time)?

Something tells me we are gonna see a flashback to Abby being somehow influenced by the MiY. Her big driver to shooting everyone was that it was all “just a dream” and she was waking them up, right? That’s almost exactly what Sophia told Henry. That can’t be a coincidence. And now Henry is having visions of the “real world” where he actually is asleep in a hospital. I wonder if Abby had something similar. She seemed to be well put together mentally in the short time we saw her to just go off the deep end ans start shooting people indiscriminately, including her own son.

Your nightmare and mine
I just know Ethan is gonna somehow he important down the road. And that’s gonna prevent this show from being one of my favorites of all time I bet.
I also somehow hate him more for just growing up and looking older now. It’s irrational and not his fault, I know. But it triggers me.

Agreed. Even if there’s some throwaway line in the future about this, it should have some sort of payoff. It seems innocuous so I’m not sure what payoff it could bring, but it was definitely out of left field to bring that up after four seasons.

Joni Mitchell “Blue” on the diner radio. Was Miranda’s favorite song.
Hey, Ellis. If you’re just gonna cuss out Marielle and Kristi no matter what they say then just don’t fricking bring her there in the first place, dick.
I like Marielle’s theory about it not being a bad thing and maybe they should be focusing on how they can use it. Of course Kristi hates it. I assume her shitty haircut is affecting her brain.
The morning after everyone died and victor came out of the root cellar was the first time he saw the BiW. He told him he’d need three things:
1. Food. Victors truck was filled with canned peaches. He also ate plants and bugs. But peaches are plants, so whatever.
2. Pretend you aren’t alone. Bc it’s scarier when you aren’t lonely.
3. ??
In Henry’s dream victor has a son (Sebastian). And he is in the hospital after a bad acid trip that Miranda gave to him for his birthday (“a long time ago”). Eloise is a school teacher.
It feels like Ellis and Fatima shouldn’t be married. It always feels like they don’t even care about each other and feels fake. Especially from him. But that may be bc he’s a shitty actor. Every time they’re in a scene just the two of them it makes me want to gauge my eyes out.
The whole “I was Miranda” thing confuses me. I know Tabitha isn’t literally Victor’s mom. But who is she really? Is she just here “as” Tabitha in this iteration of her bring here? And her little pep talk to Victor and Ethan is stupid coachspeak bullshite.
Seems like every single group of people is fighting in this episode.
So the nurse in Henry’s dream is telling him he has to kill Victor I guess.
MiY to Tabitha “you don’t remember that part yet.” about knowing who he is. Tells her she and Jade are doing well. And that Jade digging up the bones could be the key to setting the children free and sending hers home, or that “it could unleash the type of suffering you can’t even begin to imagine.”
So maybe the bones is the right way to go since it seems like MiY is pretty anti them doing it and trying to scare her about them doing it.
I still want to know what the third thing BiW told Victor he’d need to do to survive by himself. And I still really wish we’d get some flashbacks to him surviving on his own. It at least we’ve got answers on his food situation.
Per the previews for next week, BiW looks like he’s about 20 now.

Not much happening in the latest episode. I’m usually fine when it comes to slow burns and not needing everything to happen every week but this week the slow progress felt very purposeful.
I agree with the previous comment regarding Ellis, just a waste of screen time at this point and the whole getting married deal just seems like a mistake.
So MiY is basically just playing games with the town, he could obviously just kill them off and reset the cycle whenever he wants so not sure why he’s giving them a chance to go for the bones if it’s a legitimate threat.

Throw away episode... even the whole issue about a second way out was too damn easy to figure out... quite honestly it was not good at moving the plot, or developing the story in any way... just a waste of an hour that I wish I had back... no monsters, nothing of importance happened, and just an angry cop/acid trip... i really hope next week gets the ball rolling again

It’s kind of funny how a main complaint of the show for years has been they aren’t talking to each other enough, telling each other things, and now that they’re doing that (some of them at least) it’s to their detriment lol

The flashback associated annoyed me. Usually the writers give the audience more credit and don't beat us over the head with obvious shite.

Agreed, but it's obviously going to accelerate the process of Fatima becoming a monster (which i presume to be the end result of the veins on her stomach.)

Her flip flopping in those scenes with Victor was annoying. First she wanted him to disavow the story, then she's along for the training, then she stops it before we find out the 3rd thing the BiW told him.

Is there any visual connection to the children and the creatures? I know they're both seen in the caves, but while people are saying her veins kind of look like the creatures, they're a spitting image of the veins the children have. Not sure what to make of that though.

I don't think it's meant to be a visual 1:1 with the monsters, but more referential to some internal change. The "cold" that Fatima felt in her body needed a visual representation.
But an interesting theory that the monster-connection is a head fake and she is trending towards rallying the children.

Yeah I wondered that as well. He seemed pleased when talking to Tabitha that they were sort of figuring shite out. Which means whatever end game they are heading towards this season likely won’t mean anything. My hope is that MiY knows that a higher power can always pull some strings and pull the rug out from under everyone, which is why he seems entertained despite the show alluding to them actually making real progress with the bones.
I do think the bones are a bit of a dead end though. That seems too easy to figure out for Jade and Tabitha to not have done so in hundreds of years or whatever.
quote:

I didn’t get Boyd’s determined hesitation on that. Sure, you want to be as safe as you can. But given the circumstances and where you are in this weird arse horror Town, it seems like he’d come off the gas a little bit and realize that you can’t make it perfect and there is some calculated risk involved.
I also didn’t understand Kenny’s comment to Jade about how he wouldn’t be in the tunnels. Isn’t Jade essentially gonna lead the team down there?
Kenny is taking more of a back seat lately, which makes me think something may happen to Boyd soon where Kenny has to step up and take over…at least to some degree, whether it be fully (if Boyd dies) or partially (if the Parkinson’s stuff takes over).

The thing that bothers me is they are sharing information more now, yet still balking at crazy shite people say. With the things you’ve seen here, pretty much anybody but the chick cop should believe anything anybody says without hesitation. Because nothing should be surprising anymore.
Oh, Fatima may be turning into a monster? You don’t think that’s possible, Ellis? Because I can buy that since she’s literally GIVEN BIRTH TO ONE.
Oh, you need to dig up dead child bones to get us home? Sweet, let’s try that. shite, that’s actually the least insane thing we’ve tried lately. And it’s even less insane than the wild visions Boyd is having lately. “Rescuing” the kids, who we know are trying to help, is way less insane than Boyd’s dead wife trying to literally pull him into her grave in the ground. Yet he’s over here acting like it’s some crazy idea out of left field.
Tabitha, you think Victor is crazy for thinking that his situation could repeat itself? Why? Because it LITERALLY HAPPENED TO HIM ONCE ALREADY AND YOU ARE AN INCARNATION OF HIS frickING MOTHER. And he’s also trying to fricking help Ethan by teaching him how to survive in case it does happen again. But nah, he’s just crazy and doesn’t make any sense, right?
quote:

In all honesty, I had forgotten all about that scene/song. So I did appreciate the reference.
quote:
Sophia's foreshadowed tearing apart of the group.
She/MiY is definitely ramping up the tension within the group. And looks like she picks a lesser character to deep dive into next week per the previews. Hopefully we get some backstory on MiY.
I do wonder, though, how shes affecting everyone (assuming she’s pulling the strings of discontent going around). We know how she’s doing it with Henry with the blood water thing. But everyone else is doing it on their own (as far as we’ve seen). Shes always around asking questions or making comments to cover her arse, but I wonder why everyone else is fighting. Like Kristi for example. She’s normally fairly rational, and she’s getting pissed over and over at Marielle when all shes doing is basically putting a positive spin on what’s happening to Fatima. That seems a bit out of character for Kristi honestly.
quote:

Yeah I’d like some info on that too. It does at least look like they are heading down that path so I assume we should get some info on how that went down with Abby. We’ve been getting more Boyd flashbacks about her lately and actually saw her again last night.
