What was your favorite "sendoff" for the major characters that left?
I'm a fan of Smash's. Showed coach cared about him deeply, he got what he wanted in the end, and a little nod later in the show when I believe smash was kicking arse on the background on a TV at some point.

I liked that one too...and how Coach pushed him, and they had their times at odds, but in the end Coach cared for him, and helped him.
Much like a father to his players.

I'm in this thread extremely late, but the series finale was the best finale I've ever seen. Overall I really really enjoyed the whole series.

Again, this thread makes me very happy. This show got screwed by its time slot and the DirectTV/NBC bull shite and showing it at Friday nights.

i'd have to go with either smash or tim.
coach was really supportive of both of these kids.

I stopped watching when the actors started appearing in politically motivated ads. Namely Tyra.

love FNL, what a great show.
you dont see many old school dramas where you can sit down with the your wife and teenagers and enjoy a program.
i hope it gets made into a movie but i will agree that the finale was one of the best ever. what a well written show

You proud of Coach for going with the wife out of TX for her career? Or is he a huge pussy?
I liked the way it ended. He won a championship with powerhouse Dillion Panthers, then built East Dillion from the ground up and won a championship with them. There was nothing left for him to accomplish in Dillion, TX.
However, it bothered me that coach spent his whole career working his way up the coaching ladder, and Tami doesn't support his opportunity to coach at the college level, but she spends 4 years working in a high school and decides they should pick up for her opportunity to work at the college level.

Speaking of Smash, character development, and tearing up, GOD BLESS his Momma!! That lady raised that family into great people!! I cannot remember the story of Smash's dad, or even if they stated what happened to him, but damn his Mom made me tear up numerous times.
Also, it seems that the black dads in Dillon are all deadbeats.

If I remember correctly, Tami put her career on hold to be a stay at home mother so Eric could pursue his coaching dream. I don't remember the details about the TMU job but didn't he agree that they would stay put until Julie finished high school?
And what's wrong with having a sugar momma? Tami is making bank as an administrator and Eric still gets to coach HS football. Sounds like a win to me.

I love this series, though I couldn't stand Vince's bitch of a girlfriend - I know that not every show can be like Saved By The Bell, and that your main group of high school students can't remain the same age for 5 seasons, but the group of kids in season 1 and 2 were by far the best. Wasn't a big fan of the new school kids, especially Vince and his girlfriend.
But how can you not love a show where 95% of all the football games comes down to the clock running out on the very last play, with the trailing team within 1 score, with the ball, and about to score?

Minka Kelly FTW...I hate Derek Jeter.
ETA: Sorry for the huge pic. I don't know how to resize, so I just deleted it.
