nevermind the fact that she actually does have facial hair

The concept of a “black dwarf” doesn’t entirely fit the general concept of “dwarf”.
This is just another interesting discussion point.
Dwarves are inherently “light skinned” through pretty much all fantasy lore due to the fact that they spend the majority of their time underground. There is no sunlight.
D&D doesn’t have the equivalent of a black dwarf, not that a person can’t make one as their character.
The concept of high melanin count doesn’t fit the race’s physiology and environment.
There are other “races” of dwarves called the Duergar in D&D, essentially the “dark/evil dwarves”, but their skin color is gray, not black.
Despite Tolkien not describing their physical traits fully, the concept doesn’t entirely fit.
There is no sunlight in the mines and evolution would have resulted in them all being very fair skinned over time.
Despite Tolkien describing elves as fair skinned, it would stand to reason that the chances of a black elf existing are more likely than that of a dwarf.
Science :dropsmic:
Also, if she was born very dark skinned, by her current age, her skin tone would have likely becomes more gray or much lighter simply due to lack of sunlight.
This is fun.

I mean...we all saw how the Hobbit movies were screwed up by adding a bunch of nonsense that had no basis in Tolkien's books. It's not like there's no precedent here.

So I should ask him where is the proof that that did happen, and he’s got nothing.
What the frick are you talking about?
I told you there was no description of their skin tone? Do you want me to prove to you that there's no description of their skin tone? That's already a known fact.
You're answer was "BECAUSE NORDS AND GERMANS." Except those groups were also not 100% homogeneous. That's also a known fact.
Sorry man, you've tried to gate keep many popular works of fiction and get all wound up any time someone deviates how you believe that fiction should be at all times.

You do realize you're the one that brought up the racial strife right?
How else would you explain dwarves maintaining distinctly different ethnicities over hundreds of thousands of years?
This is what world-building is about dude.

No man, there are black people in Middle Earth! The fricking humanity
I was hoping Galadriel would have been a little hotter honestly . In the right photos she's pretty though I guess. But this version is going to have a lot more screen time and is showing a badass side of her, so as long as she's a good actress.
She was in His Dark Materials but I cant even remember her character.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to justify you complaining about a few dark people in a tv series with a bunch of white people.
At no point have I complained that "a few dark people" will be in the show. Distorting the argument you disagree with is a clear sign that you cannot refute it.

Find me a black German or Nord from their folklore days. Sorry, that does not exist. Until you can prove this, the obvious skin tone of the dwarves stands. As Scruffy points out, there’s more of a reason to think there may be black elves than dwarves, even if I doubt that one too.

I never even tried His Dark Materials tv show

There is an actual environmental reason as to why dwarves are light skinned/very pale.
They don’t go out into the sunlight.

I'm not trying to refute shite. I couldn't give two fricks what, when, where, how, or why there are black people in Middle Earth. I love the look of the show, I am excited for the show and I am going to wait and see it before I start throwing shite at it...but that's just me. If the writing is good, it doesn't matter what color the skin is of some of the characters.

Not reading through the whole thread right now but the chic playing Galadriel… I’d play with her one ring anytime she wanted

Sure but pretty irrelevant as that was a long time ago and we supposedly have progressed from such things.

“Look man, i dont care about why things are the way are. I dont like to think about. You should try thinking less like me. Why you gotta ask so many questions man. A good person doesnt ask why things are the way they are. They simply take them with no reservations comrade.”
When shown that something falls apart under any level of scrutiny, lets criticize people for scrutinizing it.

I mean, there was as an actual viking named Geirmund Heljarskinn - also known as the Black Viking because he and his family were mixed race.
