I was not impressed at all. Great visuals but to me the story was crap. It seemed just sort of thrown together and then oh, here's Alien.
Why would the other humans feel the need to travel thousands of light years to just unleash a virus on us?
Why upon waking up after a thousands of years nap was the guy's first action to rip off another guy's head and then head immediately towards earth to destroy it?
Why after seeing all of this would anyone in there right mind want to find the planet where they were from?
Why would the first scientist who dies think making baby moises at an alien snake looking thing would end well?
Why not immediately kill with fire the octopus monster a machine just surgically removed from your gut?
Whatever. Even with all that my biggest problem is the motivation of the other humans. What is it? Why create via DNA destruction suicide (which is what I assume what the opening scene was) only to destroy and go waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy out of you way to do it?

A lot of your questions are actually answerable...no offense, but it seems like you missed a lot of the points of the movie.
Here, watch this. It'll make a lot more sense.

you missed the point entirely. they created human life on earth. they were the gods. this aspect of the movie is a slap in the face towards religion. Once christianity came about, they were no longer regarded as gods and instead were forgotten. this pissed them off and they wanted to eradicate all life on earth as a punishment. At least thats what i took away from it.

isn't the directors cut supposed to have him say something before going ape shite cray?

of all the legit questions that this movie leaves you with, you're sure asking some pretty irrelevant and ignorant ones

That is a theory but no concrete evidence to support it. Also I would assume the rest of their civilization is wiped out if these beings who have been monitoring human life from afar sent a lone ship on a mission thousands of years ago to eradicate human life and it never did

No clue

That was a big motivating factor of them getting there. To me it's just a huge logical jump. You just witnessed one of these super advanced beings rage murder all kinds of people upon awakening from stasis, so your first point of business is to go visit a planet full of them?

Meh. I get that theme but as the female scientist said "who created them?" Also the answer to David's question as to why we created AI "because we could" doesnt really correlate here. We created AI because we could but we also reap massive benefits from it. Planting DNA on earth and flying away only to watch is not the same to me.

Within first 30 seconds of that film the guy says "this video is not to be taken as fact, since much of the film is open to interpretation. This is just my take."
So yeah there are answers if you agree with the guys interpretation.

Space is the Place from the old Toonami promos is the music in the video.

Do you normally enjoy sci-fi movies or were you branching out? I only ask because it seems like you wanted something a little more reality based.

Are you talking about the beginning or the end? In the beginning they were creating life. In the end they want to destroy humans because they didn't like what humans had become.

See above.

As in why did Shaw want to continue the journey? Uhh maybe to tell the Engineers to chill the frick out with wanting to kill humans. Plus her question was never answered. "why were we made."

Does it bother you that much? You don't enjoy a lot of things do you? I kid I kid. No that was pretty stupid scene but who cares let it go.

"Because we can."

the crashed ship at the end is the one they explore in Alien.

Yeah I like them but I just had trouble with the motivations of almost every single character in this movie

Billed as a prequel to Alien

So one ship was sent to do this and never even left. Guess we will find out in the next one what the rest of the entire civilization is up to

Well the first attempt to communicate with them went well. For a scientist she is pretty fricking stupid.

Dude, an alien squid monster was impregnated in you and seemed to be aggresively trying to escape. I think most sane people would find a way to kill the hell out of that thing immediately.
quote:
"Because we can."
Like I said before, I really hope there is more of a motivating factor than that.
Also wouldn't a vial of engineer blood mixed with the black stuff accomplish the same thing that the opening scene did?

Same model not same ship. In Prometheus they travel to LV-223.
In Alien they travel to LV-426.

The guy in that video that Cokes linked says it's a different planet so that leads us to believe the ship in Alien is the one that the chick flew off on in the end.

What does it matter what questions he wants answered. YOU DIDN'T ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS! It is possible that he understood the question you feel he needed to ask.
My question is why Etm hasn't been posting on this board. The quality of this board has went down lately.

A lot of questions for a movie that sucked...I don't know why people won't admit this.
Don't waste your time over-thinking it.

Because it's easier to dismiss questions/complaints that you dont want to address by saying something like that

Not trying to overthink it. Just pointing out my complaints with the movie. I liked the premise but to me it fell flat
