Like I said before, I really hope there is more of a motivating factor than that.
You didn't pay attention to the film at all. Why would we create AI? "Because we can."

Billed as a prequel to Alien

According to Scott, although the film shares "strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak", and takes place in the same universe, Prometheus explores its own mythology and ideas.

So one ship was sent to do this and never even left
The planet was a military base. Some Engineers seemed to to want to do this and others did not. Remember there were dead Engineers all over the place.

Well the first attempt to communicate with them went well. For a scientist she is pretty fricking stupid.
See above.
quote:
Dude, an alien squid monster was impregnated in you and seemed to be aggressively trying to escape. I think most sane people would find a way to kill the hell out of that thing immediately.
Not when you're a scientist trying to find out where you came from.

Also wouldn't a vial of engineer blood mixed with the black stuff accomplish the same thing that the opening scene did?
Maybe, but the DNA of humans and Engineers aren't exactly the same. Plus Engineer drank a whole vial. The other guy had a tiny drop. It's probably going to have a different effect. I mean I can drink A beer and be fine. Drink 15 and I'm sloppy.

No, I get it. Like I said, I was hoping for more than that.

That's a theory in that video. It seems like a good theory to explain that part though

Found to be an exact match in the movie from the head they found

Just read this.
Same base structure not exactly the same. Dammit now you got me over analyzing it.
Also just because you would do one thing and someone else would do another doesn't make them an idiot. I mean chances are, if I had someone that knew how to communicate with the Engineers, I would go look for them too. But I wouldn't get out of the ship until I got on the loud speakers and said I come in peace. Plus another thing I just though about. Take the fact that it is a military base they were at. If you woke up in your barracks and someone you didn't know was standing over you after you've been asleep for 94205790570345072482075 years wouldn't you be pissed?
Yeah, and your "hope" is the same hope that they are looking for as well. Starting to feel for the characters now are we?

Within first 30 seconds of that film the guy says "this video is not to be taken as fact, since much of the film is open to interpretation. This is just my take."
So yeah there are answers if you agree with the guys interpretation.
Obviously. I'm saying that there is evidence and supporting fact for most of the things he says. It's not just like he's spouting off what he thinks things are...he supports it.

I just remember the scene where they run their analysis and it says "exact match".

Well to me it's idiotic.

Or they blow you out of the sky once they realize it's their ship containing 8000000000 vessels of that black shite and someone else is driving

I would be confused. Dont know if I'd go into full on murder mode

Meh. Hard to feel for these overly generic characters much at all to be honest with you.

He does do a good job supporting it and I agree with a lot of his interpretations.
My point is that there aren't "answers" like its a mystery movie. The video-maker even shows how Scott on the press tour wouldn't given concrete answers so many of the theories didn't have definite answers or even stronger arguments than the others.

Ive done two MS Paint threads, one last and one this year. I want to do another one but i cant think of any ideas. i ded m/tv board versio/people and famous movie scenes. 1. i like them to be a surprise and 2. im drawing a blank

Well for an exact 100% DNA match, they sure don't have my bone structure and skin tone.
Not to mention they're like 8' tall.

Movie posters could work. shite, I've already got one done from a previous Paint thread for The Usual Suspects. shite took me like 45 minutes to do.
Could also do famous scenes again. Wasn't the last one "iconic scenes" or something like that? Because I know I did things like the opening to Star Wars and the plane scene from South By Southwest. The good thing about doing "famous scenes" is that it leaves an almost limitless wealth of scenes to choose from.
Could also do movie characters (prediction: there will be no fewer than 10 Hannibal Lectors since he'd be pretty easy to draw
I would do it after the holidays though, since people will be hit or miss around here most likely (I know I will).

We need to do more reviews of crappy movies like that
Posted on 12/13/12 at 11:45 am to etm512
It's a stupid movie. I won't be watching any sequel at a theater.
I will not purchase a spectacular "extras included BlueRay version" of a crappy movie just to hear someone try to explain why he/she/they/it left out so many important details in the original movie, leaving most audience members (such as myself) asking the same questions as the OP (and more)as we left the theater. This is as if the directors, et al. were giggling and scheming to themselves how they could even more cash in on a really stupid movie. I cannot get over how such supposedly intelligent people all took actions that only ignorant victims in slasher movies take.

yeah maybe just have Pt. 2. And just let that include characters too.

Definitely. I like to have 5 or so in the OP so I can get to work on it.
