From Man of Steel on, this Superman has been to powerful. With Kryptonite being the only thing that can stop him, he is just too powerful overall. It makes the story unbalanced.

I enjoyed it. I thought Affleck was better in BvS. In fact, Affleck couldn't even get his tubby arse in shape for this one. I found it incredible that they made Aquaman cool. They need to bring the Green Lantern in soon.

had the exact same reaction on Wednesday. I'd been waiting for it to come out on redbox and thought it was pretty good. Wasn't incredible but I'd put it on par with age of ultron if not better IMO

Meh, I was fine with Superman and his power level. The end sequence could have been written in a manner that utilized the full team though instead of making everyone irrelevant. They were all BMX bandits

I missed the discussion here over the movie. Since I went in thinking it would be awful and by the time the movie was over with I found that I enjoyed it or was at least neutral.

I'm the same way. Watched it over the weekend with my son and we both liked it. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. So much better than BvS.

The scene when they were fighting Supes after they brought him back was good, but why had Metropolis not cleaned up the Superman statue that had been destroyed. How long after the events of BvS did this take place?

Considering Iron Man beat the Hulk...

Besides, neither of them makes the rest of the Avengers irrelevant. Superman even schools WW, and comics wise she's right up there with him.

It’s sad that thinking a DC movie is “not bad” is considered a win at this point.

They're not saying that it's a win. They just enjoyed the movie.

Why not...just have Superman come back with a beard?

Makes more sense as well.

I question everyone here for thinking this movie was quality. Should have been epic. Anything short is trash.

Never understood the hate for this movie. I had a blast in the theatre.

They did a good job of holding Superman until the final fight so when he did show up it was a classic "awww shite" moment and you were ready to see what's-his-face get his shite pushed in. Very satisfying.

Essentially, he's part Watchdogs, part RoboCop.

I'm pretty neutral as far as Marvel/DC goes. But it makes me laugh on here the double standard that exists for both. Steppenwolf gets shite on here for bad CGI. But Thanos, who looks like a terrible parody of Homer Simpson with a skin condition? Awesome! I loved BvS and I don't give a shite what the self-styled cinephiles on here have to say. Affleck finally gave us a hulking, arse-kicking Batman. Was it the greatest movie I've ever seen? No, of course not.
I just saw Ragnarok and liked it a lot. But the comedic tone was completely wrong for the Thor character. It just is. But it didn't get my panties in a wad the way a subdued Superman costume apparently did some on here.
I loved the Zack Snyder feel for the DCEU, just like I enjoy the "BIFF! BAM! KAPOW!" feel to the Marvel movies. Not sure why people feel like both universes have to be shoehorned into carbon copies of one another.

It was serviceable. I was let down by the action scenes and the score. I thought both were better in BvS and MoS. But it did great with most of the characters. Superman was well taken care of. Affleck was terrible IMO. He was great in BvS but you could tell he didn't put up near the effort in JL. You could easily tell the scenes that were reshot involving him. He was so out of shape. I also thought Batman was better in BvS overall as a character.

The story was simple, but at least it made sense. Unlike BvS's theatrical cut. It was basically a copy of a fun Marvel movie (which is no surprise considering Whedon was a huge part of it), which isn't a bad thing IMO. We've gotten plenty of the dark, experimental stuff. It was time for something fun and relaxing that had a positive tone. I do hope there is more balance in the future. Kind of like what I'm seeing from the Russos in Marvel.

ETA: I will say on Snyder's departure, it saddens me to know that we will not get action scenes like he was able to do ever again in DC. While his movies were mostly poorly written and not put together well, his action scenes in MoS and BvS were some of the best action scenes I've seen in a movie PERIOD. I will miss them.

was fine/entertaining if you view it as just another generic superhero movie. It just didn't have the payoff that you expect of finally seeing the JUSTICE LEAGUE on screen together.

I can agree with this. I’m not one to always compare the two, and I am not a DCU hater, but I definitely felt that awe moment more in The Avengers. Something just didn’t quite pop the same way in this one. Maybe because we’ve already seen the three big guns fighting together in DOJ.

Still, I enjoyed this well enough. I don’t dislike Affleck or Cavill as B and S, and Gadot really is just such a presence as WW. Love seeing her on screen.

The Flash, while he kind of annoyed me at first, grew on me. And wife and I were both literally laughing out loud when he was trying to help subdue Superman

Aquaman wasn’t as good to me. I like Momoa and he looked cool in the part, but some of his delivery just seemed to fall a little flat. And he was definitely kind of a weak help at the end when he basically just had people throw him around to be able to do anything

I get the ending being kind of cheapened with Superman basically single handedly taking down Steppenwolf, but I assume we’ll see more of each one contributing to taking down a big bad in the next one. Without kryptonite in play that’s just kind of how it is. Just showed that he was actually a pretty badass villain and the others were really screwed if he didn’t show up.

Not a bad movie to me by any means, but I can see how it could feel disappointing to some who want these icons to get a great treatment on the big screen.

This is where DC screwed up in the first place. They felt like they had to be "different" just to be "different". You say the tone in Thor 3 was wrong for the character. Well, Pa Kent telling Clark to let people die is VERY WRONG for that character. And that's just the beginning.

It's not about being similar or being different from each other. It's about being correct and true to the characters. Especially one as iconic as Superman. That's why Marvel is where they are right now and DC is not.
