I thought that Interview With the Vampire would have been mentioned much earlier too. Either everyone forgot about this one, or didn't like him playing Lestat

Honestly, I like all of his movies. Top Gun probably is my all time favorite but I loved:

Risky Business
all of the Mission Impossible movies
Oblivion
Edge of Tomorrow
Far and Away
Interview with a Vampire
Rain Man
Eyes Wide Shut
Vanilla Sky
The Firm
The Color of Money
Minority Report

Damn, Cruise has made a lot of good movies.....

It's a shame the dude is renown as some crazy scientologist because he would be considered like GOAT with the filmography he has.

He's one of those actors whose weirdness gets in the way of enjoying his movies. Mel Gibson is another.

That said, A Few Good Men is such a good movie that I can overlook his being in it.

Collateral, minority report, risky business.

I like Top Gun okay, but the other characters are more interesting

Cocktail is just ...ugh.

I haven't seen Edge of Tomorrow yet, and there are a bunch of other movies he has acted in that I haven't seen, but "sometimes you gotta say 'WTF', make your move." So for now, I'll go with these four:

Eyes Wide Shut
Vanilla Sky
Minority Report
Oblivion

I never got the hate. His movies, with very few exceptions, are always a lot of fun.

Hell, I even liked Knight and Day. His over the top performance was pretty funny.

Favorites are the Firm and Jerry Maguire.

But enjoy most of his work.

Collateral. Easily my favorite performance of his.

The alleyway scene, and the shootout in the club

I was leaning toward Collateral as well.

He is was one of the best out there in my opinion. He has had good movies in the 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s.

Tom Cruise is the GOAT. Look at his filmography. No one else has THAT many critically and commercially successful films, and certainly not as many that are memorable or culturally significant.

Look, at some point it became "cool" to hate Tom Cruise because he's weird and a member of a cult. He IS both of those things. But people just piled on out of proportion.

Tom Cruise is really hard working. That's what I appreciate about him. You get your money's worth from him. Never a lazy performance.

History is going to remember him differently than the current faux hate surrounding him. History is going to look back and say "Holy shite! That guy was in an insane number of quality films and his performace was always top-notch. He's the champ."
