They weren’t given a lot to work with. Mcgregor has even come out saying how difficult it was to deliver lines in the CGI environment.

And here are 4 lightsabers pulled out inches from his face and he doesn’t flinch at all. Jedi or not, one would have naturally defended themselves in reaction.

Ewan is the only one who mad e that shite dialogue work.
Ian McDiarmid also made it work. I think he had a lot of fun with the campy dialogue in Revenge of the Sith

I have no idea which color Lucas used.

Lucas used both for the prequels (see post at the top of the page)

Did it? I thought they had a lot of props.

They both did. And both used lots of CGI. LOTR used less CGI for closeup shots of characters because most are humanoid and could use makeup, while Episode I threw Jar Jar, Watto, and Sebulba front and center in the bright-lit Tatooine lighting which only made it look worse.

The Mandalorian’s stage projection tech is a good step forward for CGI environments, since it allows for the actors to actually see what will be going on around them on-screen.

Yeah, Natalie Portman is a really good actress. This was just a weird transition time for her from child to adult actress.

Also, the prequels were just shite.

Her role in Cold Mountain is so depressing.

In all honesty bad acting is like #8639 of problems with the prequels

It's not just the dialogue. She was obviously directed to be emotionless. Hell they all were. Look at Sam Jackson. Have you ever seen him so subdued and stiff as cardboard?

That sucks. Even more so for Hayden. I couldve seen him going the Chris Evans route if he wasnt virtually blacklisted after the prequels.

Glad he is getting a second shot.

The actors weren’t trained to perform in front of blue screens

I hate performing in front of them too.

Do any of these poor actors have any theater backgrounds?

Everyone talks about the scripts being bad - Liam Neeson made them work. So did McGregor.

Well Liam (48) and Ewan(29) were older. the kid(11) and Natalie (19) were kids.

The special effects would not come off as cartoonish either

Watching the prequels from a standard definition DVD on a 4k TV is one of the worst things I have ever done.

This is all true, but that is a result of a poor director. Actors will perform to the direction of the director, and this is why you see good actors give bad performances sometimes.

In 1999, Liam Neeson publicly considered quitting acting if green-screen was the future of movies because it was anti-"actor" and pro-"director" as it made him feel like a puppet just hitting the directors marks and saying unsubstantial dialogue.
