I would trust hbo or Apple TV to pull off these books. I don’t trust peacock. ETA I do think it’s dumb to not have it animated. Arcane would be my ideal style tv show that they try to mirror for dcc

Saw an interview with Matt Dinniman (the author) recently and he was asked about live action vs animated. Said he won't go through with the show if the CGI/effects suck. Sounded like he'll get to preview how all the effects will look first.

He is tied to h Hays, it isn't great for him since hays is a mediocre voice actor.

Im on the last book and gotta say I feel like it really loses steam after the first 3 or 4. Story seems to keep expanding in a nonsensical manner, almost like filler.
I will keep reading but getting wheel of time vibes where it feels like expansion just to sell more books.

Yea i am halfway through the racing book and it kind of misses the mark tbh. Feels very cartoonish

just started listening to the books. for live action prime Patrick Warbuton IS Carl. Hays voices him similarly to Patrick and he's also 6'3 IRL.

His voices changes over the next few books because he sounded too much like PW. They do lean into the joke and use him as his father in later books

I can see someone not liking DCC, but this is a wild take. Hayes is an incredible narrator. That cannot be argued. I mean the point you made kind of tells you that. Dinnimans success is partially tied to Hayes because Hayes is so great.
That's not the case for other great audiobooks. Steven Pacey is my favorite but Abercrombie's First Law universe is not great because of Pacey. The Cosmere is not great because of Michael Kramer. DCC is great in part because of Hayes. That tells you he's a great voice actor.

The first one was available in March because I listened to it with a friend on a road trip to get him hooked. Just checked again and it is no longer available.
