Not sure if it will be live action or animated. I think it would be too costly to try and CGI it

It's live action for some reason. They could have animated it and saved money by letting Jeff Hays voice every character. Now we will get one season every five years before it is abruptly canceled for costing too much.

Confirmed as love action. And it’s on Peakcock so it’s probably not going to have the budget that’s needed to not make it look like a cheesy CW show CGI.
I think animated would be better but I think more worrisome is the network.
Hopefully I’m wrong. A good adaption would be an absolute blast.

Finished A Parade of Horribles, I agree that animated is the way to go for this series.
GOT DAMMIT DONUT!
This is unacceptable!

With at least 9 books I feel like they will cut out too much and not make that kind of commitment

The budget would have to be massive and that before you pay for well known people

I don't have Peacock, so I'll wait and see how yall like it before signing up.

I believe Seth McFarland’s company is gonna be involved. So it’ll likely be similar to Ted and the Orville.
It’s got a shot, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

I would have loved to see this animated by one of the top anime studios.

I'm still kind of laughing at the guy on the book board that said you don't have to use much CGAI and could train a real cat to play Donut.

While I'd be fine with animation, it just doesn't get massive viewers usually excluding Disney/Pixar. Look at Arcane, probably the GOAT of animated series and never went mainstream.
Brandon Sanderson has discussed this on his podcast for his properties saying the above. Many people thought it would be a good idea for Stormlight Archive to be animated. However it will be a live action tv series as well on Apple TV.

Peacock continually makes terrible tv shows. This is terrible news.

And that show didn't get renewed for a new season due to budget reasons with the cgi, which is pretty worrisome for DCC. Twisted Metal was done reasonably well though, so I guess we'll see.
I just don't see anyway it has the budget to be done well live action.

If you can’t afford one CGI teddy bear in a real world setting, how can you expect to do anything with DCC? MacFarlane seemed like the perfect person to adapt this, until they revealed it was live-action. I just don’t understand the thought process.

I was pumped for this, and I'll still watch it, but I was reeeeeeally disappointed when the author completely disowned his relationship with Critical Drinker. The 2 were IRL friends, and Drinker was even a guest voice in the audiobook version of his second or third novel. But once the show was greenlit a few months back, I guess Seth McFarlane got him to sell out his friend.

I must not be far along enough in the first book to understand why everyone thinks it should cost so much. I’m not much past when he and donut kill the first neighborhood boss (the giant trash woman with giant roaches coming out of her mouth). But it’s just a bunch of tunnels and characters that probably could be done as costumes with CGI over the top so far

He received a lot of backlash online from liberals is how I read it. That happened well before these talks began
