E4 spent a lot of time revealing what the audience already knew (safety deposit box). Lots of filler in this one.

I see it differently. It's showing that the old cop is a bit out of his element with this case by projecting his old views on this case. "Oh just some gay thing that they were trying to hide...close it up!"

The good thing is this last episode showed that an old dog can learn new tricks. He's starting to understand that these people aren't "normal."

Show has been entertaining and strange. I am wondering about Bateman's wife showing up a bit more in the future.

She said it was made up in episode two. He's just a weatherman. But he seemed to pay for the health insurance. Did the wife even know about it?

I think he’s got to be the best paid weather man in the country.

This show is loosely based off a true story (guy was a dentist rather than weather man). This part would make more sense for a dentist who may be better off.

The internet says that weathermen in major markets can make up to $400,000 annually or more. Let's say in STL he is making $300,000. Don't think he has kids. He could probably handle the $28,000 for tuition and whatever the life insurance premium was. Maybe $200/month for a $500,000 policy (term)?

Doesn't seem out of the question.

Yeah I would think a weatherman on multiple $3k a month+ billboards in a major city is making good money.

St. Louis is not a major market any more. They make 100-150k depending how popular they are. They probably made more 20 years ago. The internet has killed local TV salaries outside the top 5 markets.

What did I just watch? That episode didn’t do anything to advance the story except show the bike in her garage. It kinda just dragged on.

Loving this and really don’t know where it is going. One small detail- no chance the guy got a 1.1 million dollar life insurance policy and currently takes a blood thinner. Especially with co morbidities.

Enjoyed the scene with Floyd and the blind- deaf kid. Floyd is the pure Innocent archetype-the pure-hearted lamb -too good for this world. So who is the wolf?

Show is crazy. More serious than Shameless or The Boys, but like those shows, it seems they are trying to keep one upping themselves on how outrageous they can get.

He still won't get to telling him how he got the crooked joint.

HBO has just all about dicks all the time lately. Wish they would dial it back a bit.

All in all, still pretty good show and wondering what will happen. Does it turn out it was just an accidental death with that drug he is trying to get? Or maybe the wife made sure he would get too big of a dose somehow.

This is where I am leaning. Accidental or suicide because he's SO "nice" he erases himself in the ultimate act of selflessness so Clark and his wife can have better lives? I mean, if there is one thing we know about him, it's that he has made himself as small as possible in the service of others. Also, I feel at some point I'm going to be watching Jason Bateman circa 2026 make out with a dude when I really just want to see Justine Bateman circa 1990s make out with a chick.

I loved the text message head-fake about how what Clark and Carol were doing was wrong and that they needed to talk...bro.
